For NMSU I would have to say the game on Friday against in state rival UNM is the most important game of the season. Getting revenge against traitor former head coach Paul Weir will be tremendous for the Aggie basketball team. The game in Albuquerque would not be as important.
As for WAC games the most important game(s) would be against GCU. While CSUB and UVU are good this season, I estimate that that GCU vs NMUS will define the WAC regular season championship. CSUB and UVU will provide plenty of challenge, but since GCU is the WAC preseason champs those games will really make a difference, I think NMSU can win at home against UVU, CSUB, and GCU. The games away for NMSU will really provide the challenge for this team.
What is the most important game(s) for other WAC members?
Side note I think NMSU can go 12-2 in WAC play, losing at CSUB and GCU away. This should be a good year.

With as many as 5 teams which are capable of holding serve at home in the WAC, I say 11-3 will win the conference. Road games at NMSU, at GCU, at CSUB, at UVU, and at Seattle will be hard wins to garner. In the games I've watched among WAC members, I've seen a lot of good and bad from each contending team. At this moment, its a toss up.

I agree. I don't know much about how good any of the teams are right now. It is a massive toss up atm. Non-conference play is just a warm up for conference play anyway. The games don't really matter much because it's a one bid league. All it does is get you ready for the WAC.

I hate to be that guy but the most important games our in descending order
1. Wac Championship
2. Wac Semifinal
3 Wac round 1
As of right now I have NMSU winning the league at 50%
GCU and UVU at 22%
Bakersfield at 4%
The rest at 1%

Lofton might be the best guard in the WAC. He had 28 points tonight. He is averaging 23.7 ppg so far.
And, Jemerrio Jones had 16 rebounds tonight. He is averaging 15 rpg through the first 3 games.

Not to take anything away but wow UNM is quite bad. Lofton, Chuha, Jones and N'Dir are good. Bit of a drop off from there. Harris has been struggling a lot.

The jury was out on UNM before tonight's game because they blow out Northern New Mexico 147-76 and Nebraska Omaha 103-71; they full court pressed 40 minutes and caused a combined 59 turnovers in those two games. However, I think Weir found out tonight that a good coach like Jans with gifted ball handlers can turn his full court press defense into Swiss cheese.

I disagree. NMSU is just that good. UNM has a good squad and will win a lot of games this season. I guess you decided to ignore their 32 point win (103-71) over Omaha who tonight gave Louisville a game losing 87-78.

I think it’s going to be hard for any team to guard Lofton. He threw up 20+ on a very good Saint Mary’s team. He is one of the best true scorers that NMSU has had in awhile.

Im not discounting him. I just mean I counted 5/6 wide open shots he had and the rest for the most part vs UNM were b/c lazy defense. UNM might be a upper half team this year in the MW but they looked bad last night. You can't hold that against NMSU they did what they needed to do and they did.

UNM tried to guard Zach Lofton but he has an extremely good handle with the ball to create separation. He could split UNM's double teams. Lofton is not the best "shooter" in the WAC; that might be Braun. But Lofton appears to be the best "scorer" in the WAC.
Also, I think the Traitor came into the Aggie game with the plan to double team the post; mainly Eli Chuha and Jemerrio Jones. He did not anticipate Lofton wrecking his game plan.

Harris has been struggling a lot.I agree that Harris did not play well, but I felt their freshman, McCants had a coming out party. He seemed to be the catalyst that turned the game into NMSU's favor. With Wilkins, Chuha, Jones and McCants that is an impressive front court.

I'm not going to pretend that Wilkins is a "good" center but rather than say he is "not very good", I would say "non-productive". He is not a stat stuffer but his presents on the court really does not hurt the chemistry or flow of the Aggie team. Wilkins is dead weight for an opposing center to have to lug around in the paint. And, he is fairly mobile and fairly skilled. He is able to hit the lefty baby hook and occasional three so an opposing coach can't ignore him all together.
