UNT vs. FAU, October 21, 5:00 P.M. ET, FAU Football Stadium - goliath74 - 10-16-2017 06:20 AM

It's a very interesting game, in my opinion. it matches both teams' strengths against their opponents' weaknesses. Both teams possess potent offenses. FAU's running attack is second to none in the C-USA, UNT has a more balanced attack, which can hurt you in every kind of way. At the same time, even the most determined homers of both schools can not say that their teams win with their defenses.

There will be scoring and there will be a lot of it. Not too many FGs, either. It may just be the that the last team with a trip to the opposing end zone will win.

Vegas has installed FAU as slim 3 point favorites. I agree with Vegas wholeheartedly. Teams are very evenly matched and FAU are only favorites because they are playing at home. I think FAU will win 45-42. That's my prediction and I am sticking to it.

I’ve got UNT winning this 45-32. Yes our defense hasn’t been spectacular as a whole, but you know which part of our defense has been solid? Our run defense. In 6 games we have only allowed 1 100 yard rusher (Ito Smith with 102). We rank 44th in the nation in rush defense while having played Iowa (a HEAVY run team) and Southern Miss who has a top 3 back in the conference. Our rush defense is by no means perfect, but I think it will be enough to win this game for us. FAU has looked weak on both sides of defense, so I think Littrell will find a way to exploit this. Also we just came off of a HUGE win so all of the guys are pumped up and we have a lot of momentum. It will be a great game for sure, but I believe Seth Littrell will beat the Fighting Lane Kiffins.

sometimes that becomes the theme for a 'perfect storm for a letdown'....

I have no choice but to pull for the Kiffins.....trust me, it's not easy 04-cheers

It's hard to say what that means. MTSU's run defense is 57th in the nation and it is AFTER we had rushed for more than 250 against them on the ground two weeks ago.

Somehow, FAU's passing defense is actually a respectable 32nd. But we are benefiting from having played Navy and Wisconsin, heavy run-first teams, so these rankings need to be taken with a grain of salt. Conversely, FAU is 113th against the run. But, again, Navy and Wisconsin...

RE: UNT vs. FAU, October 21, 5:00 P.M. ET, FAU Football Stadium - MGNation - 10-16-2017 08:18 AM

NT has a really good rush defense --yards per game is a questionable statistic but yards per attempt is a good one.

I think maybe the difference between NT and the other teams FAU has faced is this: as Austin mentioned, NT has faved Iowa, UTSA, and a good portion of the defense faced Army twice last year. This defense has taken on teams that can run the ball and build their identity around it.

Still, NT will be without (probably) two DL guys in Sid Moore (playing really well) and Bryce English (still out with a broken foot). NT will need to control the clock (have been able to do so) and / or really quick strike score to put pressure on FAU to pass.

Should be a good one. Take the over.

RE: UNT vs. FAU, October 21, 5:00 P.M. ET, FAU Football Stadium - OwlFamily - 10-16-2017 09:28 AM

I would say without a doubt this is the most important game in FAU stadium history. Win and we are in good shape to be CUSA East champ. Lose and were slogging it out. I remember when we beat UNT back in the SBC for the first time at Lockhart. They had won the conference for like 3 years in a row. Seems fitting that with both teams at the top of their divisions we meet again.

I hope FAU athletics turns up the marketing and Social media heat for this. We'll need every soul at this game.

I'm rooting for the Owls for sure. Going with the home team with this game.

The ads for FAU home games against UNT and Marshall are plastered all over the Facebook for me (I assume this also for anyone else who shows FAU loyalty on Facebook)

Nah. Never met a UTSA fan that wasn't a complete and total douche so I'm just giving it back. Loser. 07-coffee3

Edit: FWIW I don't think UNT wins this, but they've been proving me wrong all season so who knows.

No, because you went to UT San Antonio. I guess you can't read. Coming from that school, it doesn't surprise me at this point.

No, I get it, you are a little sensitive when people predict the other team to win instead of yours, I dont blame you either, you come from South Oklahoma University of Fine Arts, yall are not used to winning. 07-coffee3

RE: UNT vs. FAU, October 21, 5:00 P.M. ET, FAU Football Stadium - UABslant - 10-16-2017 11:08 AM

I want UAB to play FAU & Lane Kiffin in the CUSA Championship at Legion Field... so, sorry UNT, I have to take FAU for this one.

Also, imagine the absolute media and Bammer circus that would be Lane Kiffin back in Alabama. We might very well sell out Legion Field for that match-up.
