UC Hockey Dominates Division II, Eyes Set On Moving Up - TubaCat - 10-13-2017 03:40 PM

It's awesome to see our club team do so well. I would love to see us up to Division I. If we ever become a strong program and beat Miami, the Foreskins will be forever cut off from an athletic standpoint.

Quote:The University of Cincinnati men’s hockey team, who compete at the Division II level of American Collegiate Hockey Association, currently sits at 9-0, and have outscored their opponents by a combined goal total of 88-28 to date.

In a perfect world we'd add hockey and women's softball. UC need lots of $$$$$ though

This middle Michigander still thinks the idea to retrofit Armory into an Ice Arena would be the best thing to happen to campus.

When the team was selling hockey sweaters last year, I thought of buying one. They're pretty slick looking!

Glad to see the team doing so well! If we had a hockey team, it would be awesome to play out of the armory. However, the team would probably be in a craptastic conference like the WCHA and would be playing teams like Alabama-Huntsville and the Alaska twins (Fairbanks and Anchorage). The closest "rival" would be BGSU.

Miami plays in the NCHC - which is a pretty dominant league top to bottom (I think Colorado College will be better this year...for the conference's sake, I hope so).

How great would it be to have an annual Ohio Hockey Classic with UC, OSU, BG & Miami every year at Nationwide. And before anyone jumps me, it's centrally located and the state's only NHL rink.

NHL is helping these schools. UC should get involved.

That would be even better than our Ohio Basketball Classic with Xavier, UC, Dayton, and Ohio State, which has become the don't-miss event of the year.

The fastest growing sport is Lacrosse, I'd love to see the Men add it.

Add men's lacrosse, and women's rowing or gymnastics.

I'm all about more schools adding hockey.

And Hockey East has an opening since Notre Dame's departure. Just sayin...

I know it's expensive, but Women's softball would be a big boost to the profile of our athletic department.

Yep. Softball is on the ESPN channels all spring/early summer long. It would add additional televised exposure to the C-paw after basketball is over. No offense to hockey, gymnastics, or other sports that are brought up in this thread, but they do not get on TV.

I would add that the city of Cincinnati has a long tradition of being a softball hotbed. I think a women's team would be embraced locally.

I think softball would be a good add. Gets us one step closer to Title IX compliance for adding lacrosse (which does get on TV a lot, and will only increase as the sport grows and big schools keep adding it). We would probably need one more women's sport... or drop a men's sport that's on the decline *cough baseball cough* 05-stirthepot haha just kidding! Not really, if I were in charge id drop it like a hot Mic, but I'm totally gonna pretend like I'm kidding since it's an unpopular opinion 07-coffee3

If money and Title IX compliance weren't issues, Lacrosse and Hockey would be my top adds. Love both sports, Cyclones barely scratch the itch, and club lax is difficult to follow. Also, that would put another tenant in Sheakley and I am all aboard the hypothetical transformation of the Armory to an ice rink. Ahh, if only.

I agree, but the primary issue is space for Softball...there simply is none. For the other sports mentioned, there is space that could "easily" be utilized, but softball needs an acreage investment that I doubt we could make.

Women's softball would be fantastic and would be great for Title IX reasons. College Lacrosse is on TV a lot; especially the top teams.

Barring a billion dollar donation we won't be adding men's hockey in my lifetime
