Is Georgia Southern’s patience justified? - Eagleditka - 10-09-2017 11:46 AM

Quote:Verdict: Losses at homecoming to NMSU, at App State, or at home vs. Georgia State are dates to circle on your calendar for a move to be made.

When you are on Dan Wolken’s misery index it’s a bad look:

Georgia Southern: There are only two pastimes at Georgia Southern. The first is appreciating the triple-option offense. The second is running coaches out of town who don’t use the triple option, or use it badly. Tyson Summers didn’t run it last season, and is running it badly this year. Georgia Southern is 0-4 after a 43-25 loss to Arkansas State, and while there’s theoretically still time to turn it around, don’t count on it happening.

No. Time to get a new staff.

Summers will never work out. He just doesn't fit Georgia Southern.

I think you should give him one more year. Maybe with new assistants.

Yes, just hold out a few more seasons. TS will get it turned around. Trust the process!

You do realize we had many leave after his first year, right ?

New OC, new OL, new WR, 2 new GA's, new recruiting coordinator, new strength coach.

I think a few of the comments in this thread about giving Summers more time are in complete jest, or said by fans with perhaps a slight ulterior motive.

Sorry, sarcasm meter is off. That one went right over, lol.

Probably a byproduct of having it on overload from my own site.

Still time to hire Chadburn assuming he doesn't get the head coaching gig at Coastal next season.

Who is Chadburn. I think you are seeing the difference in coaching in the Big South against teams that a lot are sub par athletes even for IAA (Big South includes: Charleston Southern *Chadwell HC*, Monmouth, Kennesaw State, Presbyterian, Gardner Webb and Liberty) and coaching in the Sun Belt against teams that most have quality IA players. That's exactly what you are seeing out of Jamey Chadwell.

I wouldn't want Chadwell anywhere near a program I was rooting for. I'm sure he is already looking for a bigger program, not sure if he will get one but if GA Southern really doesn't want to abandon the option and try and still run it then they will need to make a run at Mike Houston. He has done it at Lenoir–Rhyne, The Citadel and now at JMU.

Except Houston isn't really running the option at JMU. He's about as generic spread as it gets.

Granted, the guy knows how to win. He just left the flexbone staff at Citadel.

I really hate to say this and feel this way but sad thing about it is we will might scratch out a three of four wins playing the bottom half of the Sun Belt down the stretch with Coastal, GaSt, UL and USA and this will be considered "improving" vs playing the better teams in the Belt or the FBS in general. If we are going to lose against App, Troy and ArkSt wish it was later in the season to show how far we are off from the top. Our coach and AD will jump all over finishing up the last few games .500 or better like we won a NC. Our first win of the season might get our lead to a parade by the clowns in charge at this point.

I think Summers should be given time to try all option variants. The quadruple option next year, then the double secret option the next. If those don't work, then you should look elsewhere.

Knowing that if GaSt wins it gets him out sooner, so you know we a going to win right? That's how y'all will do us.

I think it's comical you are 17 games into a man's tenure and are suggesting Georgia Southern has any patience whatsoever.

I get the dissatisfaction. But there is nothing patient about what's happening in Statesboro.
