I say Defense wins championships

Both. You need one to be at least Good and the other to be Elite.

Explain the baltimore ravens with dilfer.

Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships.

If the other team can't score you just have to get lucky once, on offense, on special teams, or on defense.

Offensive teams have to be perfect because its a shoot out when you cant make a stop. Last team with the ball wins games, dropped passes deciding games. Harder to win if you have to be good every possesion.

Very good points, TU4ever

Most often championship caliber teams have the better defense.

a good gazebo is worth 4 wins

RE: What wins football championships offense... or... defense??? - MonsterTigerBlue - 09-18-2017 08:57 PM

I remember when i was about 8 I asked my dad why do the Tigers seem to place the best players on D fence? His answer was Defense will win you games son. He coached summer park teams and was a referee later on.... He always seemed to understand
how hard it was to referee games in real time and was willing to cut em a break after he retired - I would raise cain when I got older
about certian calls and dad would point out where the ref's were.. learned so much from him...wish he would have been their to see the Memphis -Ole Miss / Memphis - UCLA wins. Miss ya Pops !!!

Thats big school bias

Our gazebo is worth a touchdown, a touchdown and an extra point if the opponent is located in a state that ends with O.

The Denver broncos learned what having a great offense but no defense accomplishes.

College game is very different from the NFL.

Clemson won it all last year but gave up 24 to Troy, 36 to Louisville, 34 to Florida State, 43 to Pitt, 35 to Virginia Tech, and 31 to Bama. The Tigers needed every bit of their offense.

When Bama won it in '15, they won mostly with D, but they had to outscore Clemson 45-40 in the title game.

You need both in college.

It is extremely rare for any one team to have great players on both sides of the ball... I mean even the Alabama's or UT's offenses of the world can really put up a sleep fest most years while their defenses create turnovers or even score touchdowns before their offense see the field.

I agree more often than not the team with the good defense will win it all. Clemson didn't win until they improved their defense last year.

Exactly

We've seen our fair share of good offenses with Keenum n Ward go MIA when when facing solid defenses... Brutal
