Not out yet that I have seen, but the ABC noon game from Week 2 had a big number - 2.4 Share and 3.6M viewers:

2.4 3.611M Cincinnati (American) Michigan (Big Ten) Sept. 9, Noon ABC

I read in an article somewhere I can't find now that there were 3M+ viewers. Didn't state a share#.

Nothing yet but again.....I think they will be very good since it was a game that, once you started watching, you stayed with it because there was a lot of scoring back and forth and it was a very close game. The curiosity of which team was going to win the shoot out probably kept a lot of viewers glued to their sets. The average uninformed viewer would expect that UCLA would blow out Memphis but....once you saw a little bit of the game...you realized what you would perceive as a really big upset...could take place. This game had a lot of elements that would create a highly viewed contest. I am not sure that the counter programming was on the other networks but....I don't imagine it would be very strong on a Saturday morning.

Over nights may be out there somewhere but it usually takes 3 days for the finals to be released

That is excellent.

Any week you are higher than college game day you are a major game.

Viewers like seeing an underdog take down a big dog. Especially when it becomes a high scoring shootout and not a low scoring defensive battle.

Wouldn't it be nice to have more P5 games?

Like it was debated in another thread, yes. One at home each season & one away. It can be done, just too many examples of P5/G5 games being played to say it can't. And while there is a slight NY bowl risk in this approach, the wins are BIG & the attendance dollars are too. As a prime example, the UCLA win is really big in exposure (recruiting, P6 promotion, adding fans, attendance) both for Memphis & the conference. Further, I read really positive articles in the LA Times, the Oregonian, USA Today, SI - giving Memphis & the AAC great exposure all around the country.

RE: TV rating for Memphis - UCLA? - Claw - 09-19-2017 09:05 PM

Can the AD use these numbers to get TV to help get us the P5 games?

RE: TV rating for Memphis - UCLA? - AlonsoWDC - 09-19-2017 09:15 PM

The P5 games aren't going anywhere, though they might not be the kind you'd like.

MAYBE we shouldn't be playing at Purdue without having them come back, though, but whatever.

Who negotiates the TeeVee contracts? I thought it was an Aresco development.
