We’ve spent the bulk of our time since the 2016 season ended paying attention to the quarterback competition.
Heretofore, the primary contenders in the race to replace Nick Mullens have been Kwadra Griggs and Keon Howard.
On Saturday, a new candidate threw his hat in the ring. True freshman Marcelo Rodriguez shone bright, tossing five touchdown passes to just one interception. Two were to Quez Watkins and one each to Jordan Mitchell, T’Rod Daniels and Jaylond Adams.

..I've been hearing practice reports that this kid has really impressed....I think we will see Kwadra start this season and if he doesn't get the job done you'll be seeing The Cuban Cannon trotted out there.

I find it a little concerning that 13 days prior to the season opener, not only has the starting QB not been determined, but we haven't even narrowed it down to 2 guys. All these candidates are inexperienced and need as many reps as they can possibly get. Splitting the reps 3 ways at this point doesn't seem ideal.

Hopson knows damn well who our starter is. Why the hell would he make it public though? That would only help out our opponent. He's doing the right thing by making them guess.
Also, another nickname for MR could be the Green Card Gunslinger, The Latin Lobber, The Spanish Spiral...
