UT has opened the season with a 2-1 loss, in an exhibition match against Michigan State. Nothing up on the UT site, so here's the story from MSU:

From the box, looks like MSU dominated the 1st half, but UT played then very tough in the 2nd.
Season opener is next Friday, 8/11 at Detroit.

As northcoastRocket pointed out, the regular season starts today (at 3:00 Eastern). Home opener is on Sunday. Both games are on ESPN3. Here's a link to a preview.

Rockets lead Canisius 1-0 at the half. Loan goal from junior Hannah Scafaria.
Rockets totally dominated the half, with at least 3/4 of the plan in the Canisius half. Several good opportunities but only able to put 1 past.

UT looks very different this year. Last 2 years it has been long ball, quick strike offense, but they gave up a lot of counter attacks. They are only less than 2 games into the season, but if this half is an indication, they are playing a much more patient ball control offense. Isa Echiverri made three or four just crazy-talented skill moves, including a nice assist on the goal.

Rockets go up 2-0 less than 5 minutes into the 2nd, or a redirect by senior Sophie Pohl
A few minutes later, Isa Echiverri nearly made it 3-0, on a long strike off the cross-bar.

From live stats, Rockets in a scoreless tie with #23 Michigan at the half.
UM is dominating the shots, 15-4, but Shots on Goal are much closer, 3-1.

Rockets held the game scoreless until the 83rd minute, but UM finally put one past, and takes the game 1-0. That's the 1st goal UT has given up in 3 matches.
Short 29-8 Michigan. SOG 8-3.
Next up the Rockets make a Labor Day weekend trip out west to play UC Riverside and UC Irvine.
