ACC 16 - westophilia - 07-17-2017 09:55 AM

If the ACC goes to 16 with Notre Dame I'd see UT as their first choice. Of course, this is down the road with the 12 imploding and their GOR dying.

Can you guys see Texas leaving all other Texas schools and neighboring state Uni's behind to be an outlier in the ACC? Would the ACC with ND be attractive to UT? Might the ACC go for Houston to get into the 2nd largest state if they cant get UT? If not Texas or Houston, would they really go for UConn, Cincy or WV? Im not seeing that. I believe if they go to 16....for #16 they will aim high first then settle for less if they have to.

Thoughts?

No. I don't see Texas joining as a full member.

I also don't see UH, UC, or UConn in the ACC.

I can see WVU, but getting them in will be a fight.

I think TX as a partial is far more likely.

Let's assume Texas becomes a partial member-- where do they park the rest of their sports (including basketball)? C-USA?

I think it's safe to say that UT would be the first choice of any of the conferences. Big school, big following, hot bed of recruiting, why not?

The only way I could see UT leaving the other Texas schools behind for the ACC and being the outlier would be if the ACC were to offer then an ND type of deal.

Not sure having another school with a special deal would sit well with the others in the ACC.

If they don't get UT outright, I don't know if I see them adding anyone else. MAYBE WVU, but I don't see anyone else blowing their dress up so to speak.

What happens to all of these ideas in the event that ND football never joins the ACC?

The ACC, like ND.

Then, in my scenario, they stay Indy.

Ok, knew that-- not sure what I was thinking/posting this morning. I guess that's what I get for working and reading the board at the same time. 03-lmfao

Texas?

RE: ACC 16 - MplsBison - 07-17-2017 10:43 AM

EDIT - I was wrong on my first sentence.

Don't think Texas has any interest in ACC, regardless if ND is a full member or not.

RE: ACC 16 - Ohio Poly - 07-17-2017 10:44 AM

Texas....Atlantic Coast, a match made in heaven. I can see the day coming when a conference will include members from both east and west coasts. Can't wait for the transcontinental hyperloop to be built.

Texas?

Texas always was Indy in my scenario, so they'd stay Indy. I'd be amazed if they wanted to join in full. And we're back to where we are now if they wanted to leave, so that's how their departure would be handled.

Texas is in the wrong location to join the ACC. But UConn is in a perfect location and will help ACC TV enormously.

RE: ACC 16 - Nerdlinger - 07-17-2017 11:47 AM

Texas does border the Gulf of Mexico, which is technically part of the Atlantic Ocean.... 03-wink

My plan for a P4 realignment:

Eastern Conference
Central Conference
Mountain Conference
Pacific Conference

If you go strictly by time zones, you may have trouble filling out the Mountain and Pacific.

Throw in West Virginia. They can't tell time anyway.

They're also in the mountains.

Thanks. Just what this thread needed, more UCONN hate.

RE: ACC 16 - DavidSt - 07-17-2017 01:42 PM

UConn., West Virginia and Texas may have a hard time getting into the ACC. If Notre Dame going to put their football in the ACC? They would rather have a safe OOC game to be an in conference game. They would like to have NAVY. Navy would put the ACC back into the DC market that they lost when Maryland left.
