Davison's Tariq Reid lists MSU & WMU as "dream offers" - BroncoMinor - 07-14-2017 11:11 AM

Who knows if this kid will end up getting an offer from Lester. But, great to hear WMU considered a dream school by a really smart kid.

I really want the staff to offer him. Great tape, amazing production, seems like a good kid.

For some reason this kid is not getting offers. And outside of a can't miss stud falling to us are we even looking at RBs?

I would offer the kid if I was Lester and had the scholarship. Yeah you can't take kids that don't have the talent just because they call you a dream school, but Reid has talent, and the fact that he considers WMU a dream offer is a huge plus. This young man is likely to help recruit as well as represent the University well.

Reid's high lights from his junior year. He certainly had a lot of yardage and a ton of touchdowns.

I am not an expert but the tape, grades and desire to be here thats a guy I would like to see us offer.

Elijah Collins, Dylan McDuffie, and Lawrence Johnson are all 3 star RBs with multiple offers and interest in us. Reid is not getting interest for a reason. Could be anything from weak evals, or personal issues.

His coach is on twitter mocking college coaches for taking kids that he deems aren't as good as Reid. You don't see that. The kid posted a video on twitter where he looks slow, then after people point that out he says, "I was only going 70%."

Okay, why go 70% at a camp you're trying to impress people at.

With underclassmen like Falcon, Tucker, Bellamy, and Prince do we really need to take a "hidden gem," or should we shoot for the 3 star guys with lots of offers. Probably only taking 1, make it a good one.

He has a 3.5 GPA & offers from Ivy League schools. It's not academics.

As I had posted in the recruiting thread, there was a prediction of Dylan McDuffie earlier in the week to WMU. He's a 6' 205# RB out of NY. Rated a 3* .8004 247sports composite and 22nd best out of NY. He does have an offer from the Broncos. As Tariq Reid (6' 205# .8033 rating) said in the story he is "close to an offer" from Western. Does that mean if McDuffie does not commit to Western then we offer Reid? Or do we take both RBs?

I have to defer to Dips research on this one... kid may be an academic superstar but that doesn't mean he's a football star... he should probably go Ivy League and get free tuition...

Actually his academics are very good. Not sure why teams are hesitant to offer.

Air Force offered him. Curious to know what's up with in-state recruitment for this kid. Flint Journal POY, productive player. Surprised EMU and CMU aren't on him.

Like has been said, he doesn't fill a position of need. Maybe he's unwilling to switch positions.

The way I look at it, the other Rb's they seem to be in on aren't really all that much better than Reid, if at all. Especially the kid from New York that just seems to be waiting it out to see if he gets a P5 offer. Maybe Johnson from Wisconsin because he has game changing speed, but if it's the NY kid they are waiting on, I take Reid every time. He is more local and he has a coach that seems to like WMU.

Have not watched Reid's tape, only seen TV highlights.

But he seems the real deal.

Don't know why he's not getting more offers. Maybe because he's "only" had the one great year. As a sophomore he played in a bad small-school program.

MSU told him that they wanted to see more tape from this upcoming season, so you may be right.

I watched the Hudl highlight video. The kid is a physical runner who sets up his blocks well. The issue is that his 40 time if over 4.9 seconds. I'm sure Western is looking for 4.6 or lower. He does look like a "football" player though. A bit short at 5'10", but he looks like a guy that could thump people if he moved to the other side of the ball and played LB.

Some of those O-linemen on Davison looked like maulers. Wonder if any of them are on our radar.

RE: Davison's Tariq Reid lists MSU & WMU as "dream offers" - Chipdip2 - 07-17-2017 12:03 PM

The more I read the more I like him. I was leary after watching the tape where he said he was going 70%, and the fact he's not getting great offers.

I still think we're in a position to get a high profile RB with P5 attention. I still like McDuffie 10+ offers, Elijah Collins, and Lawrence Johnson better. More offers, better competition, better measurables.

I agree I think some of the others may be better, however I love that he looks at us as a dream offer. A 3 star player that is hoping to get an offer from us shows how well we are precieved now.

Tariq Reid ran for 172 yards and 4 TDs in Davison's season opener against Southfield A&T.

When does this kid get an offer? Someone else is going to swoop in and grab him before too long.
