Discussion while streaming - HoustonRocks - 07-13-2017 06:14 PM

A moderator, Mugtang, on the MWC is preparing software where a game video will appear at the top of the screen and fans can post comments below it. For example, a live stream of Air Force versus Boise from YouTube might appear on the screen while fans of both schools post comments below it.

The idea makes it convenient for fans to watch a game and discuss it on the same tab of a page displayed in a browser.

Would this be of any value on AAC Conference Talk?

So basically what we do on here? We post as we watch the game on tv?

Sort of...Whats he's saying is the game would actually stream to a box in the thread while comments are logged below it. The problem with duplicating that here is the MW Network is a free streaming site. The few games we have that are streamed are on ESPN-3....which is a site requiring authentication. I dont think ESPN would like someone providing a streaming window of their content for free. Basically, I suspect thats not an option for any legitimate site seeking to operate legally. Even with the MW Digital Network being free, Im not sure Mugtang will be allowed to do that.

Not sure if it would be different with moving to the YouTube platform, but with the prior version, you were allowed to embed the game into another website.
Edit: I just verified that you can embed into another website even from the YouTube account. The MW doesn't prohibit it.
