If you could create your dream conference for football - Wilkie01 - 07-11-2017 01:51 PM If you could create your dream conference for football what would it look like? There is no right or wrong answer to this. It is not an argument post here. I just wonder, who would be in your conference. I am just summer bored and waiting for 2017 college football season to start. I will go first: Syracuse Ohio State Michigan Notre Dame Penn State West Virginia Virginia Tech Louisville Tennessee North Carolina Clemson Georgia Florida Florida State Alabama Louisiana State RE: If you could create your dream conference for football - GO Coogs GO!!! - 07-11-2017 02:01 PM Texas Texas A&M Texas Tech SMU TCU Baylor (yes Baylor.... for historical reasons and in spite of recent events) Houston Arkansas Oklahoma Oklahoma State Missouri Kansas Kansas State Nebraska LSU Louisville Basically the originally proposed merger of the B8 and the SWC minus Rice, Iowa State and Colorado. Swapping out for LSU, Louisville, and Arkansas. Now please include one of your biggest rivals next time. I'd probably want to make every road trip for us every year. So maybe a bad idea, because I'd blow my budget on travel. (Nothing against Missouri at all!) Three divisions of 7. Play 5, rotate the other 15 h/a every 6 years. You've got great football still, and you've added Kansas, UNC, Duke, UVA to KY for basketball. You've also added 4 new AAU schools, and it is still a regional conference. RE: If you could create your dream conference for football - msm96wolf - 07-11-2017 03:21 PM Just add Texas and ND to the current ACC as full members and I would be thrilled. RE: If you could create your dream conference for football - ChrisLords - 07-11-2017 04:30 PM Taken straight from the "Your ideal conference" thread on page 2: Without external considerations like TV contracts 8 game conference schedule in football. 5 division 3 other division rotate every year. Play everyone home and away every 4 years. 16 game basketball schedule - home and away in division, 1 game each vs. other division. North ----- Duke North Carolina North Carolina State Virginia Virginia Tech Wake Forest South ----- Alabama Clemson Florida Florida State Georgia Georgia Tech TV contracts considered 9 game conference schedule in football. 3 division 2 in each other division rotate every year. Play everyone home and away every 4 years. 18 game basketball schedule - home and away in division, 1 game each vs. other division teams. North ----- Notre Dame Ohio State Penn State Syracuse East ----- Louisville North Carolina Tennessee Virginia Tech (Play UVA OOC every year) South ----- Alabama Clemson Florida State Georgia West ----- Kansas LSU Oklahoma Texas RE: If you could create your dream conference for football - goofus - 07-11-2017 05:04 PM (07-11-2017 03:51 PM)GoldenWarrior11 Wrote: Midwest Thats not bad. RE: If you could create your dream conference for football - HeartOfDixie - 07-11-2017 08:34 PM I think we had a similar thread pretty recently. UA's would be everybody we currently have minus A&M and Mizzou. MAC-8 Kent State Ohio Toledo Miami Ball State C. Michigan W. Michigan N. Illinois 8 team G5 conference to maximize. -CFP revenue, split bowl pool $$$ 8 ways. -NCAA tournament bids, split the pie less ways. -TV deal money split. -Easier for 1 really good team to dominate and bring up the conference. -Less bowl slots needed so can go higher quality per slot. -Less conference games, more flexibility to schedule P5's at home. RE: If you could create your dream conference for football - Love and Honor - 07-11-2017 09:58 PM Aside from us magically attracting another 50K fans a game to put us within range of the Big Ten, I'll say a modified MAC. North: Buffalo NIU Akron Toledo CMU WMU South: Miami Cincinnati Ohio Marshall WKU Ball State We'd still play eight-game conference schedules with the MACC in Detroit, but restrict MACtion so no one plays on a weeknight unless they get on ESPNU or CBS Sports at the minimum. Bowls would be in Detroit (Big Ten), Mobile (Sun Belt), Poinsettia (MWC), Boca Raton (C-USA), and a new one in Indianapolis (AAC), with secondary tie-ins in Frisco and the Bahamas. |
