If your C-USA school was a craft beer... - CameramanJ - 05-12-2017 10:57 AM

...which would it be? Shamelessly stealing this idea from the Sun Belt board.

ODU - O'Connor El Guapo Agave IPA
[Image: el-guapo-with-glass-with-bg-final-tree1.png]

Slightly above-average strength with that special ingredient to make us distinct from our immediate peers. There is some bitterness to balance us out. Smooth enough to get to where we are now. Our style is not unanimously popular. And we're clearly the best-looking here

For Southern Miss I'd say Yuengling Traditional Lager.

Been at it forever. Company's flagship beer. A constant favorite that isn't overpowering, but gets the job done. Doesn't stink like a lot of other craft beers.

We already have one

Yeungling is only craft in the sense that they don't produce as much as AB, Miller/Coors, and Pabst.

Yeungling exists in this weird space, larger than even Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada, who are the largest of the true craft brewers.

Their flagship is an amber lager, it's boring and inoffensive, it's not as good as Boston Lager, or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale come to that, and their lineup beyond the lager is paltry.

I am interested to know a bit more about what you mean by "a lot of craft beers" stink.

LA Tech = Old Rasputin Beer.

Similar to Food and Wine magazine's description of "Old Rasputin Beer" below, LA Tech "is the Rolls-Royce of CUSA. The Dawgs are easy to appreciate, but with an almost-frightening amount of horsepower under the hood."

And much like the historical figure Rasputin himself, you just can't kill us. 04-cheers

Quote:Food and Wine Magazine says:

Old Rasputin: Think of Old Rasputin as the Rolls-Royce of beer: beautiful and easy to appreciate, but with an almost-frightening amount of horsepower under the hood. Russian imperial stouts are the darkest beers available and they tend to be among the most alcoholic. Balancing the alcohol and the roasty flavors are a high degree of residual sugar, bitter hops and a velvety mouthfeel that ties them together. Also look for: Oskar Blues Ten Fidy.

That's old news at Rice, thanks to the alum who created Texas' oldest and best craft brewery, Saint Arnold Beer:

On Sept. 11, 2011, Caroline Gallay Wrote:Rice alum and Saint Arnold founder Brock Wagner couldn't let his alma mater's centennial pass without some serious commemoration.

As first reported by CultureMap, Wagner and company have created two new commemorative labels — one blonde and one dark — in honor of the University's 100th year and repackaged two traditional offerings, Weedwacker and Brown Ale. The profits from the repackaged Centenni-Ales will be donated to Rice.

The new brew will make its debut Saturday at the pre-Purdue game HOOTS tailgate ("HOOTS," of course, standing for High Order of Owl Tailgating Society) at 12:30 p.m.

No, that would be " shiner" as the oldest Texas micro craft beer...

I dont think we can call Shiner a craft brew anymore since they are owned by a conglomerate.

This beer is the result of a partnership between Alltech Brewing Co. and WKU. It is made in of all places, Lexington. 04-jawdrop

Hey, coal mines and steel mills, we don't need a craft beer, just a PBR.

Southern Prohibition is located in Hattiesburg, so maybe Mississippi Fireant, or Devil's Harvest, but damned if I can figure out how to post a pic.
