Major point remains - AAC head and shoulders above the G4 in ratings/viewers and therefore value to networks in negotiation/renegotiation RE: 2016 G5 Conference Viewership - pesik - 05-10-2017 08:09 AM this seems to be missing houston louisville.. and this was the first year they didnt rate espnnews RE: 2016 G5 Conference Viewership - billybobby777 - 05-10-2017 08:10 AM (05-10-2017 07:26 AM)gulfcoastgal Wrote: Includes conference games across rated platforms. RE: 2016 G5 Conference Viewership - MechaKnight - 05-10-2017 08:11 AM Nice job putting this together! G5s that averaged over 700k viewers 1) Houston 1,298,667 (ABC, 2ESPN, 2ESPN2, ESPN) 2) Memphis 1,018,250 (ABC, ESPN, 2ESPNU) 3) UCONN 972,000 (ESPN, ESPN2) 4) La Tech 926,000 (ESPN) 5) Temple 919,800 (ABC, 2ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU) 6) Navy 909,000 (ABC, ESPN2, ESPNU) 7) Cincinnati 735,250 (ESPN, ESPN2, 2ESPNU) La Tech is the only G4 whose average viewership compares with the top half of the AAC. Their average is based on only one nationally televised game: the CUSA championship. This also clearly shows why the MAC got a raise and CUSA got a reduction. The MAC is probably even underpaid, since their ratings are comparable with the MWC which gets twice as much. RE: 2016 G5 Conference Viewership - slhNavy91 - 05-10-2017 08:13 AM Ahhh, reading the full question now -- IN-conference games. I am impressed that UC and UConn are on the list considering that they were so bad last year. What's more neither program's numbers are skewed by a matchup against a school with a huge t-shirt fan base (ie. Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, etc.). RE: 2016 G5 Conference Viewership - gulfcoastgal - 05-10-2017 08:16 AM It's conference games only. Same thing I did last year. Networks bid on conference packages, not OOC games as they can be postoned/cancelled beyond a contract expiration date. The only teams that may have their OOC games considered in negotiations are the service academies as those are guaranteed games. RE: 2016 G5 Conference Viewership - billybobby777 - 05-10-2017 08:17 AM Games on ABC, CBS or ESPN by conference: AAC: 8 MWC: 1 CUSA:1 MAC: 0 SB: O RE: 2016 G5 Conference Viewership - billybobby777 - 05-10-2017 08:20 AM (05-10-2017 08:11 AM)MechaKnight Wrote: Nice job putting this together! Unlike the MAC and SB, the MWC has all their teir 1 games on CBS-SN. ESPN only gets the MWC games CBS-SN passes on. The MAC gets exposure on espn; MWC doesn't, bad comparison. I see what you are saying overall, and this in-conference games only look definitely has value. However, I disagree that a bid doesn't factor in OOC games. AAC's overall value is increased because of the track record of Houston-Oklahoma, Houston-Louisville, Memphis-Mississippi, USF-FSU, etc. The AAC CAN get home-and-homes or neutral sites like these games AND they deliver a hype-able game which delivers viewers. I would submit that it adds to the value in negotiations. (In addition to the Navy games which you already mentioned - In addition to the Army-Navy cash cow and the Navy-Air Force average to above average ratings, Navy-Notre Dame is scheduled through 2026 and AIN'T going away) 2016 G5 Conference Viewership - JHS55 - 05-10-2017 08:33 AM I don't understand about ECU? |
