Miami Bowl moving to TX - dfwtxtiger - 04-22-2017 04:25 PM

Miami Bowl moving to Dallas starting this year.
Will be played in Frisco, in Toyota soccer stadium.
And no, I am not able to post link, but on ESPN.

Good deal, for us; lot easier to travel to Big D.

Well, Toyota is building corprate HQ in Plano. Changing name to Totoya bowl would not surprise me.

20,500 seating capacity should assure a sellout

This is the same stadium that the NCAA Div 1 football championship has been played for the last several years. it is about two miles from my house. Frisco is the fastest growing city in America and new home of the DALLAS COWBOYS. Toyota is currently building their new north american headquarters on the border of Frisco and Plano. This is a very nice newly remodeled stadium where the Dallas FC pro soccer team plays its home games and where the National Soccer Hall of Fame is located. It is sunken into the ground and there are great bars, restaurants and hotels within walking distance. The DALLAS STARS NHL teams home office is very close. Overall, a great place to play a football game and have a great time. Prefect stadium, perfect city, perfect game. Here is a video of one of the Div 1 Championship games at Toyota Stadium. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8OGfPGXVnY

I could see a pattern of the smaller bowl games moving to "soccer specific stadiums".

So DFW needs FOUR bowl games?

Miami is a great place to visit in December. DFW simply is not.

ESPN bought it, I hear. Haven't read anything about it. But I'm guessing ESPN moved it to a low-cost, high incentive location.

Honestly, sort of like the move as a fan. Lots of Tiger fans in that part of the country. I've got a free guest house to stay in. Players probably won't be as excited though.

From Google Earth and Google Streetview, that stadium looks like you could readilly add temporary bleachers on one sideline and one end zone if necessary.

Let's move it to Cancun, Mexico.
