Family wants answers after father of 2 detained in Houston - UTSAMarineVet09 - 02-24-2017 10:52 AM

Quote:HOUSTON - "I'm not going to sit down and wait. I'm going to fight,” said a determined Rose Ascencio-Escobar.

She said her husband went to check in with Immigration and Customs Enforcement Wednesday, as he had for five years, and was arrested.

Ascensio-Escobar told KPRC 2, "I said, ‘Where's my husband?’ ‘He's here. You can come say goodbye.’ And I said, ‘Goodbye?’ So I see my husband, his head is down. I can tell he had been crying. I mean we weren't together ... only for the hour he's been talking to these people. And I look down and said, ‘Hey, hon are you OK?’ And he goes and he had the bracelets already ... handcuffs."

So he has had 10 years to get his affairs in order. Seems like plenty of time to do so or find out how to obtain a legal status here.

This is just hate from the GOP and ICE.

Splitting up families for no reason.

He came here when he was 14. Really guys?

I sorry you don't believe in laws Tom. Honestly, I feel for the family, but not for the guy as he has had plenty of time to get the figured out. 11 years!

"U.S. government officials said Escobar was ordered out of the country in 2006.
But ICE said he took off and became a fugitive.
He was arrested in 2011, and his wife said he spent seven months in federal custody.
ICE said he was released in 2012 and was allowed to get ready to go back to El Salvador."

You don't feel for the family. There used to be laws allowing for families to be broken up by 'deporting' one of the members to another area. Those laws were vile. The DJT/GOP implementation of these laws is little different.

He's been here since he was 14.

You don't care about the law unless it pertains to bathrooms?

He's been here ILLEGALLY since was 14.

He was ordered to be deported over 10 years ago and has been a fugitive since that time.

Absolutely no sympathy whatsoever.

Tom, nobody says they don't feel for the family, but you don't think in 11 years, this gentlemen could have taken steps to prevent this problem from occurring?

He's been here since he was 14.

And he was ordered deported at age 20. He's been evading the government since then.

Prove that I don't feel for the family. Of course you can't, you are simply trying to vilify someone with a different point of view and respect for laws than you have.

He's been told he would be deported for 11 years. More than enough time to figure out how to obtain a legal status.

You are taking a father from his kids. For what? Because he didn't fill out a form? Please.

So a person who commits a crime and has a family shouldnt be held responsible for his/her crimes?

No, because he is here illegally and has been on a deportation list for over a decade. Only a ******* idiot can't understand that simple point.

I'm sorry in a court of law that's not a good defense.

Is that how this works now?

Fine, don't fill out your tax forms for the next 20 years. See what happens.
