USC's Rose Bowl-winning kicker suspended for conduct issue - Hoekjeness - 02-08-2017 01:09 PM

Minor development for our road opener, but noteworthy nonetheless.

Our week #2 opponent might have a more serious issue brewing in their house as well:

Comments indicate it's a high profile coach... that's nuts. It's just an investigation at this point but doesn't look good in spartyville.

If PJ would've just waited, we would've had a deeper recruiting class, and might've ended up with the MSU gig.

MSU athletics is a complete dumpster fire right now. Wow. Grateful for what we have. And for the record I think we kick their asses in Game 2.

It is a realistic goal for us.

...and our MACC game-winning kicker is now playing Soccer in Oklahoma.

Sounds like a pick-em then. Vegas will probably give USC 3 points for being at home.

Prosecutor is still awaiting investigation from EL police which should be concluded some time next week. Then charges could be filed and names would be divulged. Going by Sparty fan comments it's a very serious situation with impactful players potentially involved. We'll have to wait and see.

If we beat USC, I say this now, and take my word for it: I will Streak during the tailgate in East Lansing, the following week!

if WMU beats USC then WMU will go undefeated and be a repeat MAC conference champ and most likely a repeat New Years Day bowl participant. WMU will have a new brocoach who will have to decide if he stays at WMU or goes P5.

I am now rooting for USC in our opener.

Nobody wants to see you "Streak" the following week.

Although based on past history, it's likely you will be naked in public somewhere between LA, Kalamazoo, and East Lansing whether we win or lose.

I don't think Lester will go P5 as a HC if we have an undefeated season. Our schedule's Tougher -- so there Is that -- but 1 year of having basically PJ-recruits to wheel & deal with? Granted, a new QB + new WR set is a big deal he has to deal with, that PJ did not. If his pay was standard-MAC-pay, I could see him going to a higher paying AAC job or jumping to a place like Kansas who would have to jump on a mid-major HC quicker than mid to upper P5s... but due to his good pay (and WMU roots), he'd require a mid-to-upper P5 to nab him, and 1st year as a D1A HC won't cut it, IMO.

As much as you can, Lester I believe wants to establish roots for his family. He would like an Al Molde run. Was just glancing at Al's record the other day. So many 7-4 seasons in a row while practicing at an elementary school with a high school locker room. Can you imagine how many bowl games Molde would have taken WMU too with his record? Quite a few. So I don't see Lester jumping ship even if he has a stellar year.

Molde did a great job as HC, unfortunately he pissed President Haenicke off with his carping about new Turf. Their relationship never recovered after that and it impacted university support for the program. Al did a lot with the resources he had.

If Molde had Darnell's, or Fleck's, resources, those "great" Marshall teams would not have been so great and CMU's little run would have been less note worthy.

Al Molde was a great coach and is a fine man!

Haenicke was a strong president, but firing Molde was a major mistake and one of the primary reasons it took 28 long years to win another MAC Championship.

Roots can be transplanted for the right money. This is a job, and coaching is a business. He didn't give us some sort of hometown discount. His family is here because this is where he is paid to be. If he's successful, he'll establish roots in his children's formative years somewhere else.
