Future opponents - Doo - 01-15-2017 05:04 PM

I'm guessing we might have a bit of difficulty getting games with lower end P5s for a while after this season.

Currently our future schedules are almost completely unfilled. Seems
Like this should be a priority soon.

2017 is booked
2018 still need 3 non con games
2019 still need 1
We have no games scheduled beyond 2019.

I know we need home games because we normally go to two power 5's, but i would love to schedule some games with sun belt, WAC, or mountain west teams. I know we do the D1AA schools for communiversity night to get a home game, but i would like to have another Georgia southern or Idaho every year. Bump up and go with a Temple or Houston.

Might be forced to. Almost all Big Ten teams are booked through 2020. Something like 6 or 7 open dates for the entire league in that stretch.

We had a series with Louisiana Tech a few decades back, they were a good, solid program. Would love to see them come in again. Temple? Not so much. They had to rescind a win over us by playing an ineligible player back in the 1990's.

Bring on the academies!

Any of the Academies would be great. We've played Army at West Point a couple of times, and Air Force in the Idaho Potato Bowl. But we can't entice them to come to Kalamazoo. Need to work on that.

WMU has fallen behind in committing to future non-conference games. Most of the teams we'd be interested in playing are already booked years into the future. What's going on?

Colorado State has openings in both '18 and '19. So does Middle Tennessee. So does Syracuse. Cincinnati has an opening in '18.

Penn State and Pittsburgh both have openings on their '18 schedule. PSU has one in '19, too. Maryland has '18 and '19 openings, and Rutgers does too.

Basically, don't worry about it. There are plenty of OOC possibilities for '18 and '19.

Please get Army on the schedule. Home and away. I will buy beers for everyone who comes to West Point, to watch the game at Michie Stadium. And I would love to have Army visit Waldo.

Army played at EMU in 2015 I think. If they will go there they will come to Kalamazoo.

A traditional Army v WMU game would be a dream come true.

It's been this way since I started following WMU in the 90s. Our non-conference future schedules typically aren't set more than a couple years out.
