I did not see this posted. Maybe I missed it.

UC is # 23 in the AP and the Coaches poll.

Well according to CBS, we have exactly one good win which is iffy at best.

I don't see how winning at ISU is considered iffy? They've lost to Gonzaga, ranked #11 at the time, by two, and although by double-digits, it was at Iowa, a rival where anything goes.

We're not going to climb the polls by putting a whooping on FDU, and escaping Marshall by the skin of our arses. Let's beat Temple (FOR A CHANGE) and see what that does.

Also, #22 South Carolina was the only team within striking distance that lost last week.

Just a nothing week where nobody played anybody. Let's see how it goes when teams start taking conference losses around us.

Iowa State is going to be an NCAA bubble team at best, maybe NIT. Every projection for the Cyclones has them at 8 to 10 conference wins and an RPI between 40 and 60. The team to watch is SMU. They are quickly putting together the best resume in the American. Most likely will finish with 13 to 15 league wins and earn a 5 to 8 seed in the NCAA tournament. UC has to win at either Houston or Temple and beat SMU to continue on a path to NCAA tournament. UC and SMU should make the tournament as single digit seeds while Temple and Houston will be on the bubble by the end of the year. UC doesn't play a bunch of teams to build their resume so games against SMU, Temple, Houston, and Xavier are very important. At this point UC can pick up so-so wins against UCF, UConn, and Memphis but everyone else is garbage.

Regardless of how they finish in the Big X (not XII), beating Iowa State IN ITS HOUSE is a quality win, even if 40<RPI<60.

I agree; no denying a win @ ISU is a quality one, even if the Cyclones continue to struggle some in conference play. To me, @ Temple is a bellweather game for UC: tough but winnable. A win preserves a top 25 ranking and demonstrates toughness and the ability for this team to climb a rung on the ladder toward winning a weak AAC. A loss and the doubts will remain about whether this team is making the progress we all hope for.

Keep climbing Mick and company!

Lunardi Bracketology down from #5 to #7 this week???

RE: UC # 23 in both polls this week - Bruce Monnin - 12-29-2016 09:03 PM

I imagine our last opponents (before Temple) did not help out RPI any, and the Marshall game going to overtime didn't help the eye test any.

RE: UC # 23 in both polls this week - Nobones - 12-29-2016 09:21 PM

I don't agree. At least RPI wise the Marshall game is better the the ISU game. I know no one used RPI anymore.

That's the thing wother both UC basketball and football they gotta add more top 25 match ups. Basketball has been been getting better by adding butter and I state but they can do better.

RE: UC # 23 in both polls this week - payday - 12-31-2016 10:01 PM

They need to set it up like Cusa and put the better teams in the same division to play twice and play the crap teams only once.
