There has got to be some seriously angry rich/powerful guys in Memphis right now ... feeling used and abused, mislead and straight-up lied to. If ESPN bought-out that add'l money clause in the contract with the B12, I'm curious if that ever has to come out publicly ?

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply anyone was naive to the process, but I still bet they're pissed with the way this went down - not just the outcome.

1- there is a 100% chance that the Big12 was paid off to not expand and therefore not trigger the huge payday by ESPN, the clause is now gone.
2- there is a 99.999% chance it will come out
3- there is a 100% chance the guys in the Big 12 will say something stupid like it was not a quid pro quo, they just wanted to reward us for having a round robin, one true champion

The next time the college landscape changes, it might be when ou and texas leave the big 12, and then i will not want to join the big 12.
80 million to expand to 4 teams or take 40 million and erase that expansion clause in the contract.
