BYU had a crowd of 13,000 in MARYLAND? Wow. We've had nights where we barely draw that at home.

The QB lost that game for them. Interceptions on their last two possessions while trying to imitate Tom Brady's skill in hitting a receiver in a tight window.

Becoming even more clear that BYU will be the best team we've faced so far. StAte just lost to an FCS team at home and remains winless, Maine wasn't able to get their first win against James Madison, and Fresno State lost at home in OT to Tulsa. One win amongst that whole group so far, and it was against an FCS opponent. Going to take a really good effort to come back from Utah with a W. Rockets have looked good beating up those first 3 so far.

Caught a little bit of the game. QB is not real consistent, but he can be very accurate. Also have to watch out for the keeper because he is a pretty explosive runner. He has that going for him. Main thing (I think)--keep him off the field. Try to keep the pressure on him so that he can't get comfortable. Sure hope we have Earl back. The freshman returner worries me a little. I recall that NIU returner that just killed us a few years back. I think our coverage has improved since then, though. Gotta watch the turnovers. All of their games have been decided by 3 points or less. That's a field goal.

Don't like that BYU is 1-3. Means they're going to be very hungry for a win against Toledo, as opposed to the original thought of them maybe overlooking us. And if we win, that means we beat a 1-4 team and won't get the national respect we deserve.

Na na na not so fast. MSU and MSU after Toledo have looked pretty poor offensively. I can see BYU beating both of those teams while having trouble with our offense. Especially if BYU is 1-4 going into those.

We can also make noise if we put 30+ on their D, and win by more than a score... something no one has done.

Would be huge if we can get that done.

Not all Mormons live in Utah. Like the service academies, they have a national following. It will be interesting to see how many they draw in the return game at Toledo-----it might be as close to a sell out as the Glass Bowl has seen for awhile.

I originally thought that having BG as a Homecoming opponent might sell out the Glass Bowl this year, but with the (now obvious) mega-collapse of BG this year that may have put a bit of a damper on that pipe dream.

The Rockets have looked really good on O and D so far but it now painfully obvious that they have not been tested by what has surprisingly turned out to be a real cream puff schedule although no one would have thought so going into the season. I thought we would know more about exactly how good the Rockets were after the Fresno game, but I was wrong. Now I feel that very same way going into the BYU game.....and come Saturday morning I hope I am saying the same thing all over again.

I suspect that BYU is really, really going be looking for win and will be pulling out all the stops, so the Rockets better be fired up and ready to play starting with the opening kick off. As Inductchuck pointed out this is really a no win game for the Rockets--------the only two options are: 1) lose to a 1-3 team and look bad or 2) defeat a 1-3 team which will only elicit a yawn and a "so what" from outsiders.

I figure is we end up beating BGSU by 80, Toledo will finally prove it should be ranked.

If we do beat BYU it'll be a low scoring game with the winning team breaking 20. That's been the formula for wins at Michigan, Penn St, and Arkansas

Agreed. I was going to say something like a 20-17 game. Despite BYU's record, this will be giant leap in competition from Fresno and ARk State. You also have to factor in the elevation and that half of BYU's team is 26 years old. Their defense is tough. Between West Virginia, Utah, UCLA, and Arizona; only West Virginia scored more than 20pts. Hopefully Toledo's D can give the offense enough chances for a win.

Watched most of their game. In my opinion, their RB Jamaal Williams looks to be one of their biggest threats. He is a big, strong back at 6'2"/220 lbs and their O-line is huge. Their QB made some bad choices, let's hope we can get some pressure on him and hope he makes a few more!

Not the Wyoming elevation, nor the back to back West travel in 2012 was a factor... For that reason I don't believe BYU's 4,500 feet will be either. It only starts to be a factor after delays, when we are playing at 2:00am Eastern time. (see NIU vs. Wyoming) We run a hurry up offense and cycle lots of subs on D. We're often the most in shape team we play, so that should be a non factor in Provo.

BYU is extremely physical though. THAT will be a certain test with our pretty new D-line. The environment will be rocking as well... but we did well in Little Rock so I'm not that scared. Recently we've thrived in those situations.

If we don't run the ball and BYU shuts down the deep ball, we won't score enough to win. BYU will have a rushing TD or two on offense.

Keeping them under 24 is the goal, because I absolutely believe we are the highest flying offense they have seen this year. MORE so than WVU. We were better than the Mountaineers last season, and that will prove the same in 2016.

Having an extra week to get ready for BYU cannot go overlooked, when BYU just got back in town this morning! The players probably haven't even seen game film of us yet. (Not that it will help, because we've used about 40 total plays all season). The playbook will be wide open on Friday and I dare BYU to stop us consistently. Win the turnover battle, and this one is ours. It'd be nice to force a turnover03-yawn

At 26 years old, Taysom Hill could be in his 3rd or 4th year in the NFL.
6'2" 225-230 lbs he's like a big RB. I find his running ability to be the biggest problem the Rockets will face defensively. Returns by Cougar Special teams seem like that might be another problem for the Rockets. The Cougar Defense is very sound and hard hitting. Talent wise, this is probably the best team the Rockets will face in the regular season.

You might want to check the facts about half of BYU's team being 26 years old. Its not true. Also having lots of your players completely leave the game of football for 2 years is not an advantage at all. Its a big headache for the coaches with scholarships and not even knowing who will be available as players are prone to change their minds about if and when they go one a mission.

Sorry to be a little gruff on your board but, often before a game the opposition coach will say his 17-18 year olds are playing a team of 25 year olds. (like they don't have ANY soph, jr or sr players.) Often players don't even return to football after a mission.

As far as I can tell, none of the players' ages or birth dates are listed on the BYU football roster website.
