Question about streaming ESPN3 - Bathtub Gin - 08-19-2016 05:22 PM

I have a new tv that has some preloaded apps but I have no idea how to stream ESPN3 on it. Any advice?

There is an ESPN app.

RE: Question about streaming ESPN3 - Mr_XcentricK - 08-19-2016 05:57 PM

If your TV does not come with or does not allow you to download the watchespn app then there are a couple thing you can try. First get the watchespn app on your phone. Play an event and some TVs will allow you to cast to them without the need for another device. Look for the casting symbol during play back. If that is not there then Chromecast, like cwise mentioned , is your best bet.

Xbox also works great.

Chromecast

In almost every situation whether the App is built into your newer TV or on a Roku box or Chromecast stick, you have to log in using the provider (Comcast TV, Directv, Dish etc) credentials to allow you to watch. ESPN does not give away content from Watch ESPN. There are apps you can purchase that are less expensive such as Sling but you still pay.

RE: Question about streaming ESPN3 - Rocko - 08-19-2016 08:15 PM

You can also purchase a ROKU firestick which has the watchespn app, and let's you picks from all the espn channels. The only thing is you have to have a cable provider such as Comcast or u-verse.

Doesn't direct TV have espn3 on channels 700-712? They did last year did something change

RE: Question about streaming ESPN3 - U_of_Elvis - 08-19-2016 08:52 PM

Internet through a subscribing provider (like comcast) provides access to the ESPN3 internet only games and replays.

A TV subscription provides live access to entitled channels like ESPN, ESPN2, etc.

So if you have comcast internet only you get access to all live ESPN3 content and replays, but none of the live ESPN TV networks.

We have Roku; there is watchESPN app that you can use.
And Chromecast is awesome. Stream from phone.

You no longer need the watch ESPN app. They combined it all on their ESPN app.

Even so, to get all content, you must have a legit provider to log on with. ESPN does NOT give away articles let alone content (games).

If your ISP has a subscription to ESPN3 (many do) you can get ESPN3 games plus all replays without signing in with a TV provider account. The TV provider account is only for live ESPN/2/U etc games, ESPN 3 entitlement is done at the ISP. So it isn't free, but you can still get to a lot of ESPN content without having a TV package.

Probably not half the Tiger FB games on ESPN as I discovered last year.

RE: Question about streaming ESPN3 - JhanJo - 08-20-2016 09:12 AM

I have Comcast digital/HD starter package and Internet service. It entitles me to watch ESPN, Espn2, and to stream Espn3. I do not have access to EspnU or EspnNews.

To stream Espn3 I drag out the laptop and connect an HDMI cable from the computer to the TV.
