http://www.tigernet.com/story/football/Terrell-ready-compete-national-championships-Tiger-15051

Quote: Clemson’s 2017 recruiting class picked up another 5-star Friday afternoon with the commitment of the nation’s number one corner in Atlanta (GA) Westlake’s A.J. Terrell. Terrell says he’s ready to play for championships.

Terrell committed to the Tigers via a Rivals video, becoming the 13th player for the 2017 recruiting cycle. Terrell is also the third player with a 5-star rating by at least one of the major scouting services, joining wide receiver Tee Higgins and quarterback Hunter Johnson. Terrell picked Clemson over Florida and South Carolina, but said the Tigers were way ahead of the two SEC schools, with Florida coming in a distant second.

Louisville picked up a commitment from 4* top 200 overall RB Colin Wilson.

http://www.courier-journal.com/story/sports/college/louisville/2016/10/19/four-star-running-back-colin-wilson-commits-louisville/92411254/

The 6-foot, 205-pound Wilson, of Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, near Jacksonville, is ranked the nation's No. 156 prospect overall and No. 15 running back by Scout. He's ranked No. 170 overall and No. 11 at his position by Rivals.

Wilson chose the Cardinals from a list of power-conference scholarship offers that included Notre Dame, Ohio State, Auburn, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

***

The commitment shot the Cards' class up to No. 20 in Rivals' national team rankings with still nearly four months to go before national signing day. Seventh-ranked Clemson, No. 11 Miami and No. 14 Florida State are the only ACC classes ahead of U of L's.

Wilson is also rated four stars and the No. 298 senior nationally by ESPN.com, joining Marshall (No. 228) as the Cards' only pledges in that's site's top 300.

So how much do y'all think this years success will have in recruiting? Will y'all start getting more than 2-3 four star players or is that how Bobby is?

Louisville move to the ACC has already elevated recruiting. ESPN did a piece yesterday on Recruiting Nation were they ranked the 10 most influential recruiting moves so far in conference realignment, they had Louisville behind only A&M & TCU. Before the move Louisville best ranking was 29 & came under Strong. The average was between 40-50 under Strong. Petrino's classes have been ranked in the 30's. Other recruiting rankings tend to have Louisville higher. Louisville has been consistently landing 2-4 4*'s in each class going back to Strong.

At Louisville Petrino has had to rely on the overlooked players & player development. Louisville has had to also take chances on transfers & JUCO's. Petrino has shown a knack for putting 2* recruits into the NFL. When they can consistently beat people out for the 4 *s prospects I'm sure Petrino will take less chances. Rating prospects is based on how prepared they appear to be to make an immediate impact in college. It's not an exact science to determine if a kid has maxed out his potential already or if he's just a late bloomer. Petrino has been finding the late bloomers. Strong was able to do it as well. When the recruiting gurus went back and re ranked classes after graduation, Strong best class was ranked top 10. This has been Louisville recruiting focus.

The Louisville recruiting insiders have said that Jackson success this year did help seal the deal with Colin Wilson. They seem confident that this trend will continue. Throughout both of his tenures at Louisville, Petrino has been able to recruit & develop quality QB's & WR's.

Cards pick up a commitment from 4* WR/CB Russ Yeast. Louisville now has the #19 recruiting class according to Rivals.

http://www.cardchronicle.com/2016/10/24/13390996/louisville-football-recruiting-four-star-cornerback-russ-yeast-commits

Yeast, a former Kentucky commit and son of former Kentucky star Craig Yeast, picked Louisville over recent heavy pursuit by Iowa and Auburn. He committed to the Cardinals after taking an official visit for Louisville's game against NC State on Saturday. He also listed offers from Ole Miss, Nebraska, and Cincinnati.

4* Under Armour All-American S C.J. Avery from Grenada, MS. commits to Louisville. #78 in ESPN 300. He also had offers from Auburn, California, Ole Miss & Miss State.

http://www.cardchronicle.com/2016/12/14/13962492/cj-avery-commitment-louisville-football-auburn-ole-miss

CJ Avery, one of the top secondary prospects in the recruiting class of 2017, picked Louisville over Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss during a ceremony at his high school Wednesday evening.

A consensus 4-star recruit, Avery is rated as the 8th-best safety in the country by ESPN, and is the 228th overall best player in the class according to 247 Sports. He was the first recruit that Bobby Petrino and his staff paid a visit to following the end of the regular season.

Louisville already had a 2017 recruiting class that ranked in the top 25 of every network that had recently updated their rankings. With this commitment, and the commitment of 4-star OL Ronald Rudd from earlier in the week, it's a safe bet that the Cards will climb even higher in the coming days.

Gosh. Who could have seen that one coming? :)

BTW, why does he say that Clemson's 2018 class will be so small?

Lack of seniors next season and unlike some schools in these parts we take commitments only as long as there is a scholarship slot available for them.

As it stands right now there's only 12 slots. There will be some attrition because it always is but chances are we will take 15 at the most.

Lost in the hoopla before the Natty there was this:

http://www.tigernet.com/update/recruiting/Clemson-QB-commit-named-MVP-Army-All-American-Bowl-25706

Quote: Clemson 2017 quarterback commit Hunter Johnson was named the MVP of the 2017 Army All-American game at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday afternoon.

Johnson was 3 out-of-10 for 91 yards and a passing touchdown to help the East team in the win.

"It was a blast, so much fun,” Johnson said via USA Today Sports. “I could not have expected a better time.”

Johnson will enroll early at Clemson on Monday to begin his first year of college.

In 2016, Johnson passed for 2,233 yards with 25 touchdowns and also rushed for 525 yards and three scores.

Already on campus and will be in the mix for the starting job with Kelly Bryant, Tucker Israel, and Zerrick Cooper this spring.
