If you print that out, you could use it for toilet paper.

That would be a waste of ink

Conversely, I would like to see the list of P5s that would struggle in the G5 leagues (even with the big money and prestige). Kansas, Iowa St, Vandy, Washington St, Kentucky, etc... (give them our struggles and they would be garbage).

Good point!

I didn't even read the rest of the list.

Im not exactly sure you could count Kentucky and Vanderbilt. I mean being realistic look at who they have to compete with year in and year out. Who exactly would fare well as an avg football program having to play an SEC schedule? Not many P5 teams could even pull that off.

Are they talking about football only or sports across the board? The last time I checked schools must compete in more than one sport once they join a conference and There was only 3-5 teams on that list that would have any clue in doing so. I would like to see GSU or Navy (just examples) complete in basketball , gymnastics, baseball, swimming tennis , golf, ect. WKU and BYU are about the only two programs at the G5 level to dominate across the board ....and both would severely struggle without serious upgrades in all sports

One school from CUSA on that list, and that being Marshall..... yea no someone picked names from a hat feels like.

We are the only G5 school to win 10 games each of the last 3 seasons.

Those are 16, but not the only 16. La Tech, USM, WKU could compete as well. And once you start getting all of the recruiting and money advantages and handouts that come simply from being in a P5 it would get even easier. I'd love to see some of the low level P5s try to compete at the G5 level on one 40th of the money. They'd get crushed after a few years.

Which makes it a solid and understandable and EASY choice. The point is though that they put in schools that are definitively worse than a few other schools in CUSA who already have more as far as I know. What I am getting at is this guy probably couldn't find a raccoon at a garbage convention.

I have no interest in reading this silly article, but anyone who thinks that schools like USM, La Tech, MTSU, of WKU wouldn't equal to or superior to teams like MSU, OM, Arkansas, Vandy, or UK if we had decades of $EC money and exposure is delusional.

RE: 16 for ’16: Group Of 5 Schools Who Could Immediately Compete In a Power 5 Conference - WKUYG - 06-24-2016 12:04 PM

The only thing I will say about Western...over the last 4 seasons vs SEC and schools on that list

3-3 vs SEC
Navy 2-0
Marshall 2-0
South Florida 1-0

only 2 of those 11 games @Western

0-2 vs Big10 both on the road and both with in 7 points or less

3-5 vs P5

Our teams have to beat the $$$$ schools by 3 touchdowns just to win by a field goal

I remember when we beat Ga Tech, the refs calling a TD back because we didn't allow Tech defense to get set. They had plenty of time.

After many of our long gains on offense a flag would suddenly appear.

But we beat the dogsh*t out of 'em so it didn't matter.

The best summation I've ever seen.

Along with the money comes the calls. For example the no call in double overtime against Kstate this year. Plus give me a P5 budget at Tech and we would be awesome.

While the money helps ..the 24/7 from espn telling these recruits which schools play bigboy football and which one's supposedly dont means a lot more.

Look at recruiting, basketball especially, 20-25 years ago and today after 15 -20 years of espn talking heads using "mid major" day after day after day

the term mid major was first started by recruiting services back in the early 70s...Western and I'm sure Tech and most of us were in the MAJOR ranks...for these services. espn changed the meaning once they started buying conferences

There is certainly no doubt that ESPiN has helped segregate the haves and have nots. Some of us have been blessed with very fertile recruiting grounds that often produces awesome talent. Tech and WKU has done more with less for 30 plus years and I would bet it has made us meaner and leaner. If you dumped us both into a P5 conference with the money, exposure and the calls, we would kill these spoiled little P5 programs that have been living off of Big Brother. Vandy, Wazoo, Wake Forest, and others have all been Victors of Circumstance, while others like us have been victims
