He said don't be if he's surprised if he's starting sooner than later, which also means he thinks he probably won't start out as starter, but will earn it soon.

So you think he has no shot at starting eventually? Why?

Because we have two electric recruits that I believe are much better.

Karamo Dioubate was a top 200 recruit nationally, and picked Temple over Alabama, Penn State, Auburn, Florida, Michigan State, Ohio State, etc. and doesn't warrant a mention?

Philip Nelson is a Big 10 starter with experience (and did well)...and Minshew isn't

Whoa now

Gardener is kind of an unknown quantity. Usually you have proper recruitment cycles where you get a real feel where a player rates relative to other options. With him he missed out on a large bit of his recruitment as a juco. He could be a middling insurance policy or he could be above average and we don't really know which yet.

I think ed oliver is not getting nearly the attention he deserves.

RE: AAC Preview: Top 10 Newcomers - b0ndsj0ns - 06-23-2016 08:15 AM

Nelson is technically a newcomer so if I were going to pick an ECU QB I'd have picked him. Unless he's much better than I think he is Minshew or Nelson sucks/gets hurt Minshew won't start this year. It's possible next year, but it wouldn't shock me if ECU is looking in the transfer market or if Herring/Ifedi just beat him out.

Personally I think Sean Bailey, Chance Purvis, and Emanual Jones have a pretty good chance of making early contributions. Article can't cover everybody and like Minshew as well, but from what I'm hearing Nelson is the guy. Even the previous staff knew he's real good running the scout team all year.

I hope Ferguson turns out to be the kind of QB this guy anticipates. Paxton will be hard to replace. I would be happy if Ferguson can just manage the game okay, since our D should be improved. Not as good as 2014, but sure as hell better than that disaster last year.

Ferguson throws a helluva ball. The few times I watched practice I was blown away. Gotta translate into doing it in a game.

I gotta say, the Orlando sentinel and the TB times are class newspaper . The American conference gets no love from any texas newspapers that I'm aware of, and I always see conf related things in both Florida schools' papers.

Joey Knight does a heckuva job covering the Bulls and AAC. His predecessor, Greg Auman may have done even better...he churned out info and articles like a mad man.

Knight is an AP voter and he's not afraid to rank deserving AAC teams.

I think that the local Florida papers in those cities recognize USF and UCF as having relatively large followings. Houston's fanbase has always been swallowed up when compared to the size of UT and TA&M fanbases.

Norvell raves about his composure too. I hope he keeps it in games

These lists are so tough because the writers don’t always have a real in depth knowledge of the teams and rosters.

Part of the game plan this year at Temple will be to limit the wear and tear on Jahad Thomas. True Sophomore Jager Gardner is a big back at 6’2 and 215 pounds with speed and will play a major role in the offense.

I like Jager, but Ryquell Armstead is really the one to watch.
