Sentinel Countdown - 2016 - ODU AGGIE - 04-17-2016 12:46 PM
The Orlando Sentinel 2016 countdown starts Wednesday. Here are some questions to get us started.
1. Who will be the first team on the board at 128? (My projection: Eastern Michigan)
2. Who will be the first C-USA team on board at what position? (My projection: UNT at 126)
3. Who will be the top ranked C-USA team at what position? (My projection: USM at 39)
4. What will be the average team ranking for C-USA? (My projection: 76)
5. What will be the final ranking of C-USA among the G-5 conferences. (My projection: 3rd, following the AAC and the MW.
Hey, it's time to have a little fun while we wait for September to get here!

It's just not the same since Paul Myerberg doesn't do it anymore. That guy did a hell of a job with his countdown.

I think that was the USAToday countdown. Yeah, Myerberg was always a great read on his countdowns...

Not sure of the results, but this paper did a good job last season on ranking WKU...Not sure how they did rest of conference but I know they had us ranked pretty high which turned out to be correct...

I thought he was doing it at the Orlando Sentinel and then jumped ship to USA Today. Either way, he was the king of countdowns. His countdown always had plenty of good info to get you interested in the team no matter if it was Eastern Michigan or Oregon.

I wasn't referring to the newspaper. I was referring to all the haters whining and b!tching about Western coming in so high. Maybe you don't remember it but I do.

I think you nailed it pretty well. The only thing that gives me pause is the fact that USM has a new coach, and that often clouds things a bit. But, overall I think you have a reasonable forecast. The middle of our, or any conference, is always messy, but I do see USM, WKU, MTSU, MU and probably LT as the top of the conference, with the bottom being NT, UTSA, Charlotte.
An interesting side line will be which one of ODU, FAU, FIU, UTEP, or Rice will break out from the predicted middle of the pack and make a move towards the top. If I were guessing, I'd put the middle this way:
UTEP (changed this after reviewing schedules. More favorable schedule.)

Rice
FAU
FIU

We did. We learned not to run our mouths after a special season when you lose your starting QB. Something you may also find out here in a few months.
