OT: Primary User Groups - BobcatEngineer - 03-08-2016 10:46 AM

So I know I'm gonna come off sounding like a noob here, but does anyone know how many posts correspond with each primary user group.

For instance:

Water Engineer: 0-99 posts
Bench Warmer: 100-?

And so on and so forth.

RE: OT: Primary User Groups - Westhoff123 - 04-08-2016 01:10 PM

I know after 250 posts you get second string.

The word threads aren't really around anymore to pad the post count, so you definitely don't have it easy. Depending on your viewing/posting habits, getting to the desired "rank" might take a while. Post in threads you enjoy and good things will happen.

What was a word thread?

Don't sweat it. Give me a few minutes, and I'll see if I can find the list.

The word thread was basically a thread with a theme, and you'd post a word that fit. It was a good way to get your numbers up, but it went the way of the dodo.

RE: OT: Primary User Groups - BlazerJoe - 04-09-2016 03:03 PM

Looks like it's Water Engineer, Bench Warmer, 2nd string, Special Teams, 1st String, All American, and Heisman. Can't find anything as far as the post numbers go. Sorry 'bout that.

Word threads were basically word association games that interested posters took part in. They were often used to pad post counts. Witty, clever, or funny posts were sometimes rewarded with rep points by other posters taking part in the thread. Everyone got their jollies, racked up posts, and all was well. The main ones got pretty massive (something like a thousand pages?) and eventually might have put strain on the website. WA threads seem to have fallen out of popularity in the last few years. Maybe because of that.

That sounds pretty cool too bad they went away.

Looking around a few boards, it looks like the category/post-number assignments could be:

Water Engineer / 0 - 99
Bench Warmer / 100 - 249
2nd String / 250 - 499
Special Team / 500 - 999
1st Team / 1,000 - 2,499
All-American / 2,500 - 4,999
Heisman / 5,000 - 9,999
Hall of Famer / 10,000+

I just guessed on these round numbers after seeing a number of posters with specific totals for each category. (I did see a "Legend" with 26,167 posts. I don't know if that's another category (perhaps for those 25,000+) ... or one that he changed on his own.

Also, there are numerous personalized categories that have replaced these default ones for posters of all number ranges. Which begs the next question: How does we change our category to a customized one?

I actually find them incredibly annoying, but there is still one on the ACC board.

Well it's taken me over 2 years just to get to 160.... so it might be a while to get to that customized category level! 03-lmfao

Here's a few good fun threads that can help up your post numbers:

OT: CUSA board Music thread (what are you listening to right now?)

OT: CUSA board Comedy Thread (for when things get too heated in here)

OT: Official Spin Room Weather Presenter Thread

Click your username in the upper-right of the screen, then Edit Profile in the left navigation section, the fill in your Custom User Title in the upper right box.

I believe the ability to give oneself a custom title opens up at 1,000 posts, but I could be totally wrong.

Thanks guys, last question though what are the medals for and how do you get them?

RE: OT: Primary User Groups - BobcatEngineer - 06-16-2016 10:52 AM

Bump!

I'm also curious about the medals Mr. Westhoff123 inquired about.
