That may be true, but you will have to beat us at our place next year for that to happen.

Way too early...Houston seems to be poised to do it again. As for Marshall, It think CUSA will be a war with 4-5 teams with a real shot at the title; however, all us us will have to go undefeated, maybe 1 loss to get a NY bowl game. I think we tend to beat up each other so don't see it happening. Lets get 4-5 weeks into the season and see what you have.

RE: Marshall or Houston for the 2016-17 New Years 6 Bowl - THUNDERStruck73 - 02-03-2016 12:14 PM

I have a question: Houston likely will start the 2016 season in the top 15. IF they go undefeated, there is an outside chance of them making the CFP (they would only have to climb 9 spots over 15 weeks).

The question is if Houston does make the CFP, does that count as the G5 AB representative? Or does it another spot open up for the second-ranked G5 for the Peach or Fiesta as well?

Roy Kramer & Co. have spent their entire careers keeping teams outside looking in. With only 4 spots in the playoff the day that ANY school outside the so-called "power" 03-lmfao5 Confs gets in will be the day pigs fly over a frozen hell. That would mean only 3 of the 5 Confs make their playoff and heaven forbid if Notre Dame made it because then only 2 would.

I agree with you that it is virtually impossible... But if we have one of those fluke years in NCAAF where no one is undefeated, only one or two teams have one loss, and the rest have two, and UH goes 12-0 with wins over Oklahoma and Louisville...... It'd be really interesting to see Kramer's dumb ass try to talk his way out of that one.

If UH or anyone else in the AAC goes undefeated, gets left out of their stupid little 4-team playoff, and then wins their bowl, we'll see a split championship. That would also represent the restoration of an old CFB landmark to its approximate historical position.

A team outside of the P5 will never make the Final Four, I think that is pretty safe to say at this point...

I see **** like this, or someone posting that "we'll never lead Bama 21-10 again" and it rubs me the wrong way. There are years USM has played a strong enough schedule that it would have been damned hard to keep us out. We still have control over who we play and how we perform. The gap between us and them is a bubble that's arguably bursting as I write this. A lot of that TV money is drying up, and at the end of the day a lot of those P5 conferences are pretty bad entertainment, unless you're Bama, Texas, etc.

I hate the way college football has transformed over the past 15 years.

Especially when you have perennial welfare recipients and cellar-dwellers like Ole Miss and Mississippi State getting the kind of talent they have....I wouldn't say the bubble is bursting. I'd say it's growing.

Hell, a middling Pac-12 team put up season highs against our defense in our bowl game and ran all over us....and we were in the top echelon of G5 teams last season.

Leading someone at one point of a game is a lot different then being selected by a group of humans selected by P5 schools after 12 games to do their work for them and pick teams in "their" conferences.....TV has created the divide and the uproar of a non P5 school in Final Four would be the end of the world to TV and these P5 schools....Its just the reality at this point, it sucks but its where we are.....

Outside of USM, can't think of any team I had rather see do it than Marshall.

This is WAAYYY too early for this kind of prediction. I think we'll have enough trouble just winning the east this year...lot's of traps in our schedule.

We don't even know the schedule yet.

How would either Marshall or Houston get in if WKU is going to run the table. They're a powerhouse football program with the noisiest 10k stadium ever.

If you qill boo a kid with a hurt knee just think what it would be like if we won there. May have to have armed guards to get out.
