It's a start , gotcha beat LSU to have a chance or have teams in front losing

No votes in the coaches poll - and one of the voters is Rice's David Bailiff.

I can't remember the exact play but there was a bit of bad sportsmanship by WK late in the game that might have rubbed him the wrong way. I don't know if that's the case for sure but I do think Bailiff should give you guys a vote.

If you guys go undefeated the rest of the way, it'd be really hard to argue against you getting the access bowl unless Memphis finishes undefeated.

RE: WKU is Ranked 33rd in the AP Poll - CoachMaclid - 10-11-2015 01:58 PM

To me, the interesting thing is there are 6 coaches in C-USA, including 2 that have already lost to WKU, and not a single vote. Usually, the coaches poll is more "Marshall friendly" and the AP usually lags behind for us.

I wonder if such things like calling for a double reverse flea flicker up 42-14, the second trick play in a row, if affecting other coaches in voting?

RE: WKU is Ranked 33rd in the AP Poll - Fort Bend Owl - 10-11-2015 02:04 PM

Not sure Coach. Again it's just speculative on my part.

The play I was thinking of was Western was up 49-10 late in the 4th and had just put in their back-up QB. Rice had just punted and basically given up in the game. On a 2nd and long, the QB had a 15 yard first down pass. That's not horrible in the silly coaching etiquette world but I was a bit surprised they weren't just running the ball exclusively at that point of the game. Their drive did stall and they had to punt on that series, and the game ended up with the same score, 49-10.

WKU obviously the best team in the league...congrats.

If Toledo goes undefeated and Boise wins out, WKU won't stand a chance at the AB... Both UT and Boise are ranked. Even with a win over LSU, I don't think it would be enough to pass Boise.. Besides, ESPN uses Boise's ballbag as a pacifier.

Forgot about Toledo.

I just looked at their schedule. In November, they play 3 Tuesday night games in a row. **** that.

Not sure about that. LSU is a top 10 team currently. Toledo's best win would be a 40th-50th ranked Arkansas at a neutral site. I think WKU would stand a good chance of getting it. The problem is: They have a very small chance of beating LSU.

So? Do Tuesday wins count less than Saturday wins?? the Mac is used to the Tuesday night gig.

Yes, but WKU also has a loss to Indiana... Almost a death knell for a G5 team whose name doesn't rhyme with noisy...

I never thought WKU was in the mix for the AB after the Indiana loss. I don't recall any WKU fan stating such.

No, I'm just saying, for fans, that sucks if you're someone that prefers to watch the games in person rather than on television.

Unless you live in the town where the game is taking place, it is tough to make a Tuesday night game.

If Temple goes undefeated we'll have wins against Penn State, Notre Dame, Cincy, and Memphis the team you just brought up. And you think WKU would be above that? Hahahahah not even to mention Houston or Navy if they won out

yeah, it sucks when you're the only game in the country and its being broadcast on national television late in the season in primetime when all of the voters and talking heads are tuned in. It's a bummer. 07-coffee3

again, just talking about from a fan perspective. Clearly it's a good thing for exposure. You can't argue that it isn't an attendance killer.

Boise, Toledo, Houston all ranked right now...

He said, though, if "Memphis finishes undefeated", which includes a win over Temple. If either Temple, Memphis, or Houston win out, imho they have the Access Bowl spot. I think the real stink would come about if one of those teams would lose a playoff spot to a 10-3 P5 conference champion team.
