RE: Week 6 CUSA Power Rankings - Cnelson203 - 10-11-2015 11:30 AM

Things are sorting out a bit, that's for sure.

1. Western Kentucky - I'm convinced this is theirs to win, but they need to protect Doughty to do it. As an example, I'm not sure it was a good idea to keep him in the 4th quarter of last week's game subjecting him to needless injury risk. Plus they can't beat themselves by thinking they are invincible.

2. LaTech, Marshall - both balanced teams. Bulldogs suffering some injuries, and Thundering Herd is stabilizing.

4. FIU, Southern Miss, Middle Tennessee
7. Rice
8. UTSA, FAU

10. Old Dominion
11. UTEP, Charlotte

13. North Texas

I wish we played NT this year.

RE: Week 6 CUSA Power Rankings - nastybunch - 10-11-2015 02:19 PM

Noodles is on a tirade again. He would be better off just giving up and take up something else before he has a heart attack. It is sad to see some of the people on Eagle Talk right now.

I don't get it. Clearly USM still has room to improve, but you guys are way better than the last few years. If I were a USM fan, I'd be pretty encouraged, but I also don't follow a program that has a strong history, so maybe my expectations are just different.

Yeah. Southern Miss is still a middle of the pack CUSA team right now. Not saying a ton since there are quite a few bad CUSA teams this year, but it's still better than the past couple of years easily. USM is favored in 3 of it's 6 remaining games and the UTSA game is a toss up. Good chance to go 6-6 or 7-5 this year.

RE: Week 6 CUSA Power Rankings - mistabinks - 10-11-2015 02:58 PM

1. CUSA 3.2

4. Hector from next door and his HS football stories

5. UTEP

RE: Week 6 CUSA Power Rankings - CoachMaclid - 10-11-2015 03:27 PM

The official maclid rankings...

1.) WKU
2.) La Tech - overall balance and offensive consistency gives advantage over Marshall
3.) Marshall - best defense and special teams in the league.

4.) Rice
5.) FIU - I think the will finish a little bit lower than this.
6.) UTSA - much better than the record indicates.
7.) Southern Miss
8.) MTSU - with next three against FIU, La Tech, and Marshall, could be bowl ineligible in next 3.
9.) FAU - they've had a two score lead in 3 of their 4 losses.

10.) ODU - only team in this group with a pulse on defense.
11.) UTEP - I had these guys as a sleeper this year.
12.) Charlotte - They aren't North Texas.
13.) North Texas - They aren't Portland State.

FYI, Charlotte's defensive efficiency is 40th in the nation. Our offense is just so terrible that every defensive series begins on our 30 yard line and they stay on the field ALLLL game. If we can cut out some turnovers (21 in 5 games), this team will surprise some folks.

I agree with Maclid's representation.

I am concerned about our upcoming game with Charlotte
You have moved the ball of late. Now all you have to do is score.
I sure hope we are not taking you guys lightly.

dIsagree with statement about defenses having a pulse.

Charlotte gave up 10 points to FAU. Both scoring drives were off turnovers inside Charlotte's 30.

They gave up 30 points to Temple. Only one drive was over 50 yards. The rest of the scoring driver were shorter drives set up by turnovers or poor punts where the defense was working off a short field.

Charlotte's defensive problems (game against Middle not looked at too harshly) have for the most part been set up by the offense's inability to stay on the field and move the ball.

Oh and we're better than North Texas.
