K-State's Bill Snyder said he favors old-school Big 12: 12 teams, two divisions, championship game.

What else is little Bobby gonna say right now? He's gotta save face for his conference and make it look like he is in control, not admitting that they are weak. When I read that statement, I just rolled my eyes.

RE: McMurphy: "Sorry, Houston, Cincinnati, UCF, BYU, Memphis, Boise, USF" - NBPirate - 07-20-2015 12:06 PM

The key is all in WHO the ones that feel strongly are. I know that they need 7 or 8 out of 10, but no one really gives a **** what K-State thinks.

The 3 yes Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Kansas State
The 3 no Texas, TCU, Baylor
The undecided ISU, Kansas, Osu and Tech

Based on word out of their camps I would further guess that ISU, OSU and tech lean toward expansion. I have no idea how Kansas feels.

The Bill Snyder comment translation; We also favor expansion.

I don't see isu or kansas wanting expansion. They have nothing to gain and would most likely just drop a few more spots in standings most years. It makes me think they are leaning towards no. Same goes for ttu but to a lesser extent as they are usually more competitive than the other two

Of course he favors expansion, he knows the Big12 is on wobbly legs and Kansas State is one of the most vulnerable to being left behind.

If Oklahoma - Oklahoma State head to SEC the Big 12 dies
If Texas heads to PAC or BIG the Big 12 dies

Texas and Oklahoma can each kill the league. Clock is ticking

A recent ISU opinion piece argued that ISU is favor of expansion so that their football team could be more competitive. In other words, ISU has a better chance at bowl eligibility with more games against Cincinnati and Houston and fewer against Oklahoma and Texas.

The line of thought could also play into Kansas' thinking....

Those two are along with Baylor, KState and WV at the mercy of UT and OU

The only thing that matters is what Texas wants. If Texas wants expansion, it will happen.

RE: McMurphy: "Sorry, Houston, Cincinnati, UCF, BYU, Memphis, Boise, USF" - firmbizzle - 07-20-2015 12:27 PM

Big East all over again. The B12 "power" teams don't have hard schedules so it will be very easy for ESPN to do the same thing they did to the Big East. The B12 better go undefeated if they want in the National Championship discussion.

True but I'm starting to think that Oklahoma is getting tired of that and might pull an AM and head to SEC,

All I really want out of this is better week in and week out competition. Even if its a watered down big12 thats fine with me and I think its still a step up. If UCF or any G5 team can play bigger games every week it draws more fan interest and helps build your program. Better competition would draw more interest and more eye balls which could lead to more money. If UCF could even play texas tech, baylor, tcu, kansas state instead of some of the bottom teams in the AAC every week it would help.

4-5 swing votes is pretty interesting. I mean just because a university can publicly be in favor doesn't mean they vote that way.

This is the Big East expansion all over again. Instead of basketball schools and USF holding out its Texas support.

I wouldn't be surprised if OU+1 to SEC gets more traction.

I agree... If UT or OU leave, the big12 dies... However, no one leaves anywhere until and after the network partners have decided who goes where.

The feud here is between the TV Network partners ESPN Fox more than anything. else.

heres an article reiterating the opinion piece fom yesterday with quotes from ISU

he's a no for now, but not a definite no

the author writes kansas and isu would benefit as the teams that are out there likely to be added a are team kansas and iowa state can recruit and compete against

their AD disagrees saying thats not a quantifiable reason to expand
side note he says "Cincinnati and whomever, right" when responding to that as what it could be like..it might not mean anything but the fact his first instinct was to name cincy for his analogy..hmmmm
but on that note he also said that that was a bad reason to add anyone and that cincy and whomever are not in the best interest of the big 12

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/college/iowa-state/randy-peterson/2015/07/19/big-12-conference-football-expansion-impact--iowa-state-cyclones/30392079/

looks like a lite no for him but is for it if anyone is worth the value

Yes but to a KSU, Baylor, Tech etc fan playing any AAC school after being in current Big12 would be like what you feel playing those bottom AAC schools.

Yeah I know its a step up for us and a step down for them lol Its why I think some of those schools may be the ones actually stalling the expansion. Some schools may know its inevitable they will be left out if UT and OU leave so they are trying to keep it at 10 as long as possible.
