"The Institutional Sportsmanship Award"
Are you kidding me!

Quote:"Major aspects of our championship culture are principles, integrity and high standards, and living up to those standards in our program," Heeke said. "While we compete incredibly hard, we never lose sight of what it means to uphold those values and exhibit class and exemplary sportsmanship.

I don't know if this is an award for being the most gracious losers, or they just draw the name out of a hat.

This is the program that gave us Thomas Rawls, who was only one of a host of felons who either played or were dismissed from the team.

This is the program that REFUSED to shake hands during the coin flip, on route to their third drubbing on the last four years at the hands of their 'lowly rival."

This is the basketball program that has only recently drug itself out of a APR hole that nearly cost them scholarships.

As for leadership...........Enos led them nowhere and bolted at the moment the ship started taking on water. That's like saying the Captain of the Costa Concordia showed great leadership.

And when Dip says "recently drug itself" that's exactly what he means. One football recruit, a few years ago, said he turned down WMU because it was too urban, and said he preferred CMU, where they had "lots of grass". There was a time the student body said you could tell when the B-ball team was in town because you could see smoke billowing out of their dorm floor windows. That team and its coach did get invited to find new employment, to be fair. But the situation lingered for several years, apparently. I must say however that some of my family members went to CMU. They seem to be OK now, and survived their time there without permanent damage.

lol

It's apparent from this thread that at least two people "give a chit."

Thanks.

Dip, you make some good points. I could think of about 11 others teams in the MAC more deserving of a sportsmanship award. Unreal.

Didn't shake hands, reprimanded by the league,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,yeah, great sportsmanship

Then we have Rawls, on top of every thing else about this "great leader" the guy is suspended from the bowl game because he stopped attending classes.
