Memphis hosting LaTech this season - techdawg88 - 05-23-2015 10:37 AM

I'd feel better about this game for Tech if Mike White was still coaching them

Go ahead and feel good. This year will calm the storm.

Is this a marquee game?

Maybe if they still had Mike White coaching them...I think they had back to back 27 win seasons.

Ohio State (Miami, FL), Oklahoma, Mississippi, and a yet to be named P5 team on the road...those are the Marquee OOC games.

Pastner likes to schedule 1-2 solid low-mid majors...Murray State, NC Central, SF Austin, etc...problem is, we sometimes lose to them...and I seem to remember watching LA Tech beat Calipari in 2005 at FedExForum.

We need to take them seriously

La Tech doesn't exactly thrill people especially after losing White. Besides OK, any other home OOC opponents from a P5?

RE: Memphis hosting LaTech this season - techdawg88 - 05-23-2015 12:28 PM

Tech's new coach, Eric Konkol, came from Miami

Do you guys return most of your starters from last year? How are your fans feeling about the team?

It appears, as of now, OU (10ish) will be the only OOC team ranked inside the top 40.

The Black Bears; the FEF will be about 1/3 Mississippi fans that game.

I concur La Tech isn't a "known" opponent but as UofMemphis noted, they weren't exactly known a decade ago when they won handily at the FEF.

Yeah we were 22-16 that season. We didn't really come on until later in the season. We made it to the conference finals losing at the free throw line to Louisville. Then we went on to the NIT Final Four.

What's the outlook for joniah white? Think he will contribute?

I hear you. I guess my point is that our home OOC hasn't been great the last couple of years and people want to see bigger name schools.

You have a low self esteem problem. Mississippi doesn't average 6000 for their home SEC games.

We have to be worth a **** to attract big OOC names to play here.

With around 2,000 people not renewing season tickets this year, and FedEx not renewing almost 1,000 season tickets, that will put us at around 12,000 season tickets. Take away the 1,500ish student seats and that's 5,000 seats available to be purchased. I guarantee at LEAST 2,000 ole miss fans buy tickets. And a few thousand seats sit empty. That's just reality right now. It's a dark time for us..

Well at least we can't blame it on the weather. Hey. How are ya? Kinda missed ya. I'm thinking Damon's addition put a stop to the ones who were on the fence about cancelling.

What does your crystal ball tell us for FB attendance?

Who is your source for these numbers or did you pull them out of thin air.

I can tell you that it did not put a stop to the ones thinking of cancelling.

As far as football attendance. Seeing as we have a (should be) guaranteed sell out on the schedule, we will average, mmm, my gut says 39,000. We will have 40,000+ for the Cincy game, and 55,000+ for ole miss, but I could see us losing a middle of the season game that deflates some people. And of course, losing to ole miss will deflate thousands. All in all, I'll say our season average will be 39,000!
