McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified-- Belt with 5 bowls - GaSoEagle - 05-05-2015 08:43 PM I am thinking he made a mistake here but he tweeted that the Tucson, Austin and Orlando bowls were certified for this year. He says Tuscon is CUSA-MW and says that both Austin and Orlando are SB-AAC. Can that be right -- is the Sun Belt tied into the Austin bowl? I hope it is right but that is not what I understood. If true we have 5 bowls. McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified - Pony94 - 05-05-2015 08:52 PM Yes SB is in Austin RE: McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified - GaSoEagle - 05-05-2015 08:56 PM That is great news. I can hear the loud cheers coming out of San Marcos right now. :) McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified - slycat - 05-05-2015 08:57 PM Well there is where TXST will always play. No more complaining. But I'm sure there will be complaining that it's not really a trip to somewhere new. I'm okay with it even thought DKR is massive RE: McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified - GaSoEagle - 05-05-2015 09:01 PM There may be some switching off of bowls at some point but the fact that there are now 5 Sun Belt tied bowls is HUGE. New Orleans, Mobile, Montgomery, Orlando and Austin. My question is what is the pecking order of picks: 1. New Orleans 2. Mobile 3. Montgomery 4. Orlando and 5. Austin Is that right? RE: McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified - Bobcat87 - 05-05-2015 09:01 PM Awesome IF true . . . . And I'm thinking more in terms of the 5 bowl tie ins for the conference, and yes, absolutely great to have one in our backyard . . . Though I'm sure that most of our fans would prefer to travel beyond Austin. . . . . Of course if we can qualify for it, it should greatly reduce our "travel costs". . . . . RE: McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified - GaSoEagle - 05-05-2015 09:05 PM It has been reported by ESPN and CBS Sports that Austin is SunBelt/ACC so I assume it is true. This pretty much guarantees that any Belt team that goes 7-5 or better will have a bowl now in all likelihood. McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified - Pony94 - 05-05-2015 09:06 PM Sun Belt - AAC RE: McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified - hapapp - 05-05-2015 09:07 PM (05-05-2015 09:05 PM)GaSoEagle Wrote: It has been reported by ESPN and CBS Sports that Austin is SunBelt/ACC so I assume it is true. ACC or AAC? RE: McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified - GaSoEagle - 05-05-2015 09:08 PM Sorry AAC RE: McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified-- Belt with 5 bowls - Saint3333 - 05-05-2015 09:16 PM (05-05-2015 09:01 PM)GaSoEagle Wrote: There may be some switching off of bowls at some point but the fact that there are now 5 Sun Belt tied bowls is HUGE. 1. NO, all others equal, will take closest SBC program with six wins. I don't know who to thank for this but it is good news. It also helps explain why the Little Rock bowl did not make this year. McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified-- Belt with 5 bowls - slycat - 05-05-2015 09:22 PM Problem with DKR is even if you get 50k that's still only half full. RE: McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified-- Belt with 5 bowls - Georgia_Power_Company - 05-05-2015 09:23 PM I guess this was some kind of last minute change because I remember Austin was originally reported as a CUSA tie. Great news in any case. RE: McMurphy of CBSSports tweets that 3 new bowls are certified-- Belt with 5 bowls - GaSoEagle - 05-05-2015 09:27 PM Is Austin Bowl going to be played at Univ. of Texas Stadium? Just set it up for the most competitive games first ie say a SB champ/MAC champ, then geographically most sensible next. Unfortunately that looks like it'll never happen |
