Roundhouse Revival - ncrdbl1 - 05-03-2015 04:40 PM

For over 40 years the Midsouth Coliseum was the home to wrestling in Memphis. Now that we have the Fed-Ex Forum the city is looking to tear down the Coliseum and put up a smaller 5000 seat arena. Join over 13,000 Midsouth Coliseum fans as we fight to not only save the grand old lady, but to reopen her for use.

You can watch a soap opera on TV

RE: Roundhouse Revival - UofMemphis - 05-03-2015 04:57 PM

Tear it down.

It's done as an arena with the non compete clause.

Build one of these so it can host multiple events:

As long as it's under 5k the non compete clause does not apply

Memphians rally around the strangest things.

RE: Roundhouse Revival - beanburrito - 05-03-2015 05:37 PM

The Tigers should buy/be given it and spend $30-40 million to upgrade it.

Keep all our revenue...PSL etc

Louisville owns theirs and made$30 million last year the most in the NCAA

They don't own it, but I think they have a sweetheart lease.

here is where UofL gets their dough:

The fans. Donations to Louisville basketball last year came in at a whopping $21.5 million. That's more than most programs made from all basketball-related revenue sources last year. In fact, only Syracuse, Duke, Arizona, and Kentucky had net revenue greater than $21.5 million last year.

Tear it the f down

RE: Roundhouse Revival - NDTiger - 05-03-2015 07:56 PM

Year it down and use the land wisely. The city can't afford any more flub ups....Our University and Our City have been surpassed by many other over the last 50yrs due to ineptness.

RE: Roundhouse Revival - MemphisFan95 - 05-03-2015 07:58 PM

Tear it down

RE: Roundhouse Revival - Claw - 05-03-2015 08:30 PM

I see nothing in the current leadership that would make me want to trust them to refurbish it.

I think the save the building crowd should seriously consider to the abilities of those who would actually do it.

The way our program is headed, we'll be able to play home games there and still may not fill it up.

Maybe Auto Zone could buy it and turn it into the world's largest auto parts store...?

RE: Roundhouse Revival - HoopDreams - 05-04-2015 08:51 AM

Do it like Chick-fil-A did that church on Union - keep a section of the edifice standing and build whatever they want to around it, but the MSC has seen its day - time to do whatever is needed for the Fairgrounds update.
