If we lose 1 member to CUSA what do we,do? - GaSoEagle - 04-21-2015 03:11 PM

If we lose 1 member- ga st. USA or whoever-- do we just stay at 10 or do we still try for 12 in football and in Olympic sports?

I hope we try to get to 12 honestly...

I say we get better and beat the **** out of them as well going forward.

If we lose a member to CUSA, then JMU was passed over (which is highly likely, anyways) by CUSA, meaning JMU has only one way into FBS. The Belt would officially invite JMU and they would (reluctantly) accept.

I still see us dropping Idaho and possibly NMSU, no matter what.

If we lose someone I say pick up Alabama or maybe Notre Dame as a replacemnet.

Actually I think NMSU gets full invite (the fact they're already an established FBS program will really help their cause) and wouldn't surprise me if both EKU and Missouri State get full invites and you'll see divisions formed.

Whether it's the best move or not will remain to be seen, but SBC officials would undoubtedly swing for the fences should another current program get picked off

Silly season still has 3 months plus to go.

*sigh*

If the Sun Belt was smart it would stay at 10/12 to make for good scheduling. Then when you have two more GOOD teams that could be invited you could invite them as a pair. No odd numbers for scheduling purposes.

Whatever you have to do to make sure you have enough for an FBS conference in the worst case scenario.

I'm really on board with the many-pairs-of-travel-partners sort of setup. If an eastern school is taken, you can probably put partners together from the schools remaining. Not sure what to do if a western school goes.

I don't see CUSA expanding. They're probably waiting on the Mtn West to take UTEP so they can be at 12.

What is the MWC doing taking UTEP?

UTEP recently expressed an interest in going to the MWC . . . . Don't know if that feeling is mutual though . . . . .

I'd throw up, because it will be South Al. Then I'd have to stomach another move up. I would essentially give up of Cajuns major athletics and stick to track and field since I was All Sun Belt once back in the day.

We could stay at 10 teams or even go to 9... Wait, 10 teams in a conference? That's crazy talk, that would never work! Who would even try such a thing?

RE: If we lose 1 member to CUSA what do we,do? - IdahoCajun - 04-21-2015 06:31 PM

I actually liked it when we had 9 teams, that way everyone played each oth=r which was nice. So if we don't add a team, I would give NMSU and Idaho the boot since they bring nothing to the conference but travel cost and lowering your RPI.

I know nobody likes 9 teams but you still play 8 conference games and you play everbody. To me, if they don't go up go 12 teams and have a conference championship game then what advantage is it to have 11 teamx over 9.

All you get is complaining that the conference champ didn't have to play certain teams. The only problem with 9 teams rather than 11 is you have years with co-champions. Think about it, there is no major advantage having 11 teams but confusion.
