Scarbo: UAB Basketball scheduling on hold but its not necessarily a bad omen.

Can't see how it could be considered good.

It's not a big deal.

"It's not unusual at all for basketball programs to complete their schedules in the spring or early summer."

I'm not that worried about it, but I will point out to anyone calling anyone else a Chicken Little that more than once in Blazer World, the sky has, in fact, fallen.

It is unusual though for them to mention issues with scheduling all games right now.

They didn't. Pearl did. They responded to Scarbo asking about it.

They mentioned it to Pearl.

While probably not all that unusual the last time we saw this it ended badly.

And honestly, why would you jerk around with Pearl on this?
It's not like you couldn't work out some deal with Pearl for a home & home.
Why even bring it up in discussion with Pearl?

Reminder: Be sure to support UAB & CUSA by buying conference tournament tickets. Just ignore all of the other bull**** going on.

Does basketball do it's scheduling anything like football? Is there any reason we can't set up the Auburn series to start a year or two down the road? Does it have to begin next season?

RE: "Sadly, those clues led to Dr. Watts in the boardroom with a knife." - ATTALLABLAZE - 03-03-2015 10:58 AM

Most scheduling is done during the summer. Sometimes the last game isn't scheduled until a week or two before schedules are released. We go through this every year. This is nothing new. Nothing new at all. Only because that grease ball said something people are making a big deal out of it. Several of us follow it closely and do a schedule watch every year.

Again if it's not home and home tell them to piss up a rope. This is Auburn, not North Carolina.

The most important OOC scheduling is getting into a good pre-season tournament which is done years out. The rest takes care of itself.

There's no reason why you wouldn't schedule Auburn for a home & home regardless of what conference you are in.

Pearl knows how to BS, our athletic department knows how to BO (bend over)

Except that Pearl is on record that he will never schedule a straight home & home with any Conference USA member (UAB included).

How did our athletic dept bend over. Sounds like they put him off, probably because they didn't like his terms and forced him to go crying to the media. Sounds to me like they stood up to him.

RE: "Sadly, those clues led to Dr. Watts in the boardroom with a knife." - the_blazerman - 03-03-2015 11:21 AM

Then they should speak out & say something.

Saying nothing in this case would be like bending over.

RE: "Sadly, those clues led to Dr. Watts in the boardroom with a knife." - WesternBlazer - 03-03-2015 11:27 AM

Pearl wants to showcase Auburn in Birmingham and wants to use UAB to do it. He could have played UAB this year and didn't. UAB is on the record as wanting the return game at Bartow rather than BJCC. Nothing more needs be said until there's something to say. Pearl is trying to bait UAB into doing what he wants on his terms. Any more comment gets into Pearl's wheelhouse where the claim can be made that UAB won't/is afraid to play Auburn...

RE: "Sadly, those clues led to Dr. Watts in the boardroom with a knife." - the_blazerman - 03-03-2015 12:09 PM

Haase stating that Pearl wants a 2 for 1 & he wants a 1 for 1 would suffice.

No defending here but I think Hasse is taking the high road here. Pearl is being a pompous ass which is the norm for that dirt bag.
