Did CUSA mandate that all schools play "full cost of attendance?" - GaSoEagle - 02-23-2015 10:15 PM

Did CUSA mandate that all schools pay this or is it left to each individual school to make their own decision what they will do?

Up to each school

All of CUSA voted for support of COA. That being said, CUSA is allowing each school to handle how they want to participate. In other words, some schools may pay COA only on select sports. As for Marshall, they announced last week that they will provide COA for all scholarship athletes.

What a crock. It should be COA or GTFO in my opinion. Typical chicken **** C-DOA crap.

Charlotte will be providing COA for all athletes.

Is it permissable to offer it for some sports and not others? I mean can a school choose to offer it to football players and not volleyball or softball players?

That is correct. As an example, VCU has taken that stance by offering COA to "basketball only" for men and women. All other sports are not going to be supported at this time.

The bottom line....If you are not going to fully support COA and offer it to all student athletes then you will really struggle to compete in those other programs. For that reason, I was very happy to hear our AD announce that Marshall will support COA across all athletic teams at Marshall. I think its the right thing to do.

I imagine title IX will be amended to reflect equal CoA coverage for both sexes, eventually. If you have 85 football players with CoA scholarships, then just about all the women's sports will need to be funded as well.

BTW, Marshall could not have said they would cover CoA because Chuck Landon said that we couldn't and the AAC board has ratified that decision. Feel free to check it out for your viewing pleasure on their board. I won't sully this one with a link.

we've been talkin' 'bout this for years......

now I'm getting ready to smile....

title IX is only one facet that is going to get 'cut'

I predict this gets uglier than any sports debauchery.....I'll even go black sox with it

lawyers are chompin', seething, drooling......it's 'can't wait to pounce time' boys and girls

I seen that and imed. stopped reading. I haven't been to the HD since Dec 2013. The last thing I read of his was an article on the Military Bowl where he ripped anything Marshall had positive including Cato and Shuler. I then said I would never read anything Landumb wrote or waste my time going to the HD website as long as he was there.

The guy may be a Marshall grad but he is garbage.

Pandora's box has been opened now. Who knows where this goes. Football at any FBS school will get the extra money I predict. It is anyone's guess what happens with other sports, especially the non-revenue ones.

This is all because of 8-12 schools greed and constant whinnnnnnnning. The NCAA has been dead now since 1999 the 1st year of the BCS system. The Greed has just become more and more rampant since then.

The UAB president's PR team has already cost the university more than COA would have for the 2015 football team... 03-no
