Interestingly, barring unexpected departures, with only one scholarship open in 2020 it seems that the team we have right now is the team we are going to have for a while. It will be fun to see how this unfolds. Recruit Updates - Proff - 09-11-2019 06:31 PM Skaggs will open up one spot then the question is will the "walk on" get another year of scholarship money? Scholarships are on a yearly basis. So there could be two openings. Plus, it's always good to establish relationships with prospects, High school/AAU coaches. However, if we need that scholarship for a better player who would be a more regular contributor and not just a "feel good" story... The coaches better make the tough, but right decision for the program there. It's a great day to be a Seahawk!!! Melvin Edwards Jr. becomes the first commit of the 2020 class. He was in Wilmington this past weekend on his official visit. https://twitter.com/melvin_22462/status/1178492132648275971 RE: Recruit Updates - Seahawkhoops - 09-30-2019 08:05 AM (09-29-2019 11:39 PM)Gary Miller Wrote:(09-09-2019 04:15 PM)Gary Miller Wrote:(07-03-2019 08:43 AM)Gary Miller Wrote: 2020 Carrollton (GA) 6-6 F Melvin Edwards, Jr. has received an offer from UNCW. He had offers from Troy, Mercer, Tennessee State, UT-Chattanooga, Presbyterian, Kennesaw State, and GA Southern. He also took a visit to GA Southern so it looks like we beat out Byington on this one. VC won't show other offers once a guy commits. I think it helps them keep up with the depth chart that shows up on the team pages. He still has all of his offers listed on his twitter account. According to the article below he had a P5 interested as well. https://hoopseen.com/news/player/201908/carrolltons-melvin-edwards-wanted-man Edwards fits a similar mold of Sims and Boggs as he should be able to play the 2-4 consistently. I read somewhere a few months ago that he had a 3.8 GPA, so that's also a plus. He looks to be stronger than Sims and Boggs looked when they were seniors, but I'm just going by the eye test on that. RE: Recruit Updates - B_Hawk06 - 09-30-2019 11:30 AM Showing some nice athleticism and shooting touch as well. Put some college weight on him too and we may have another decent shot blocker on our hands that can tighten up the defense. An even more exciting possibility is that it could be related to Bowen's waiver. |
