A nice Summary from Alex.

Jack Hemphill has now been offered and he sounds interested. He would be a good fit for the system and fit in well! Go to about 4 minute mark.

Obviously it's difficult to glean a whole lot from a highlight video, but the kid does appear to have some pretty sick handles:

Competition level worries me a bit. Not sure i saw anyone over 6'3 or so in that video

He played AAU ball as well.

Kid had 8 assists in semi finals win against Hargrave in March. Apparently a ridiculously composed point guard and passer. Playing at the highest level right now. Look at teams website. Loaded with D1 talent.

Shockingly decent ups as well.

Fair enough. I'll have to trust the coaches here. Growing up in New England, i can tell you it wasn't exactly a hot bed for D1 talent. his handle did look very smooth for sure.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the kid grew up in Japan - Even less of a hotbed for Basketball talent. As I understand it - his parents are Japanese and Canadian and he attended an American School over there so he has no accent.

Were they playing in an Ark in that clip?

UNC-Wilmington lands commitment from 2018 PG Kai Toews

For the record, I post this article under protest due to the "UNC-Wilmington" vs "UNCW" in the article...

UNCW gets another commitment this evening from wing Jaylen Sims out of Charlotte.

April's Regional Blow Ups - Phenom Hoop Report

6’6” 2018 Jaylen Sims
Team CLT
There is a lot to like in Sims game, he checks all of the boxes. Sims has great length and handles the ball with great pace in the half court. Prior to the start of the April Live Period, Sims didn’t have any offers. Since the start of April Sims has grabbed 15 or so offers from the likes of Minnesota, Rhode Island, Buffalo and others. It will be very interesting to watch at what level his recruitment settles in at, one thing is for sure, he will have options.

RE: Recruit Updates - bricksnivy - 10-05-2017 08:21 AM

Thanks for the info, guys. I couldn't find much on him last night. 2 scholarships filled for '18 and two open. McGowens looks like a player and Hemphill has a very good offer sheet.

I think Jaylen is only 6'6" if Buzz Peterson measures him in platform sneakers, wearing triple thick athletic socks. In the real world, I'm going with 6'4"...

That's with only two commitments right? This is a great sign (no pun intended), considering recruitment was one of the areas we were worried there may be considerable drop off from the last coach.

Great work coaches and staff!!!
