I would have to think he would be a great fit for the system. Hopefully he feels that way too. I like what he was bringing to the party on his season mix video.

Jamari Thomas had a great season and playoffs, he led his team to a state title over the week end.

I am very interested to see how this pans out. He's obviously very skilled. But, we still have 3 more years of Shy.

He can play the 2 spot as well. So he could back up Shy as a freshman, take over the 2 spot and play with Shy So. and Jr. year, then take over the pg spot Sr. year.

I thought about that, but at 6’0 he’s a bit small to play the 2. Would be a quickness matchup problem though

The way he can get to the bucket would be a huge problem for defenes. Ty plays the 2 right now and isn't much bigger. Can't be upset with having two exceptional ball handlers on the team or on the court together.

Yeah, good point on Ty. My only concern is if the rest of the roster is undersized too.

I'm still hoping Jamari brings his teammate with him to Wilmington.

Think there is a legit chance? Recognize this article is 6 months old now, but they had him top 100, 2021 class:

He's the top available recruit available in NC and since decommitting he's heard from Georgetown, Georgia, UNCG and Wichita St. I don't have reason to think he's likely, but he's offered and I'm hopeful. When he decommitted he said he wanted to find a better fit, but said Howard was also a great fit...I took that to mean that he recognized his stock was on the rise and he was looking for something higher profile.

Without knowing much about the bigger players roster makups there, I'd say it comes down to the usual. Have an op to contribute right away and do big things here, or UNCG, or, be a middle of the pack rotation guy at one of the bigs. That's usually what it means.

RE: Basketball Recruit Updates - bricksnivy - 03-15-2021 02:18 PM

UNCW has “shown interest” in Providence transfer F Greg Gantt.

Averaged 4.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.7 apg. 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Gantt is a 6’8” 220-lb Sophomore from Fayetteville, NC. He played HS ball for Trinity Christian and AAU ball for Team Felton. Former ESPN 4.

UNCW is far from the only school who has reached out to Gantt.

He has also been contacted from Arkansas, Pitt, Texas A&M, NC State, Wichita State, South Florida, and Pepperdine, among others.

I think this is my new, favorite potential name. Seems to have that "X" factor, ya' know?

I’d love to think we have a shot at that kid... just don’t see it happening. If it does though, Siddle has magical powers.
