South Granville had a squad this year. Need to see him next year (he’s just 30 minutes down Creedmoor Rd outside of Raleigh). He also had a virtual With Ole Miss today. Kid is supposed to be big time!!!

He's swinging for the fences, and early. All it takes is one.

RE: Recruit Updates - bricksnivy - 04-22-2020 10:28 AM

Is there a connection with him and Dodd?

I don't know how good he is, but I think Siddle likes to play ping pong.

Why are we offering so many PGs?

All you need are 5 point guards CG!

If you only need two PGs, it doesn't hurt to offer five. We take the first two that commits. Can't just offer two and wait to see if they commit before you decide to make more offers. Those other three may not be there either.

I get that... I’m just not seeing much balance in this recruiting so far. Just my take.

The 2021 class would have 4 scholarships as of right now.

They've offered 2 PGs, 1 SG, 2 SFs, 2 PFs, and 1 C in that class.

I get the 2021 recruiting and love seeing the amount of offers across the board. I feel that Siddle has offered more guys in about a month than McGrath did in his entire 2.5 time here.

But what about a big for 2020? Preferably a Grad transfer or JUCO.

Our only post player is Dodd currently.

Thanks for the numbers there. I was just going off of what I keep seeing and it felt like way more than two PGs. Maybe it’s because we have two PGs coming in the 2020 class? Dunno. Just felt like a ton of PGs and I must’ve missed the others.

RE: Recruit Updates - 82hawk - 04-22-2020 08:41 PM

In the Siddle system there will be a PG and three other shooting/scoring guards with one big. So, you need one starter big, one back up big and a freshman willing to play limited minutes. If not, your bigs will never play then leave. Plenty of spots for guards since they can rotate in an out, especially with a high scoring offense and a press. Plenty of PT to go around there so lots of offers to guards. He will have no problem with putting a 6'5" guard at the 4.

I don't consider Jamahri Harvey a PG. His 3 point shooting make him a better option at the 2 or 3. 42% in HS, 51 % in AAU. He can handle the ball but I don't think he'll play much PG for us.

It's all about the system. Small ball can work, especially at the mid major level. C.B. never adjusted his system to the roster this past season, which is why we looked so overmatched down low at times. We do need another player for our frontcourt. However, I still have hopes for Steere being eligible immediately. Either by waiver or the NCAA Division 1 Councils upcoming vote to allow a one time transfer. Right now the last scholarship should be going to a Grad Transfer that can give us quality frontcourt minutes. Hopefully someone that can rebound well.
