Top 6 AAC is 29-1 vs Bottom 5 AAC - MemphisTigerFreak - 01-31-2015 03:33 PM

The top 6 teams in the conference are 29-1 against the bottom 5 teams in the conference. Of course we (Memphis) are the only screw up with our home loss to Tulane. Crazy.

Well, I don't know who, but someone will have to go down to the bottom and let Navy assume the top !

HORAAH !!!!!

I believe Aresco is going to need to pressure the ECU AD to push Lebo out early from his contract. Spend some time listening to Lebo and you will know right away that he does not have the demeanor or vision to be a head coach. He was pushed out at Auburn and now it needs to happen with the Pirates. I think he would be a good assistant in the NBA, or at a legacy College Basketball school. He needs a good coaching mentor imo. Until he is gone ECU will not be competitive.

I think as a person Lebo is great, as a Head Coach however, not up to the task.

It will take some time but the bottom teams will get better.

That's exactly what you want from a bid perspective.

I know both ucf and usf will be much improved next year. No idea about Houston, Tulane, or ECU. If we can limit the really bad teams to 1-2, we will on track for a solid major bb league.

Tulane should be better, many of their key players are young. I see Sampson bring in some good JUCO's/ maybe a senior transfer or two. USF and UCF should both be improved to some extent. I think the bottom half of our league will be much improved next year as a whole.

Kelvin Sampson and Orlando Antigua are playing with squads they pieced together from what was available at the time.
Imagine if Sampson would have had Thomas, House, Joe Young, etc..
Donnie Jones still doesn't have the full compliment of scholarships.

Tulane has surprised me (and not in a bad way).

As the Pirate fan stated, ECU is the only cog in the wheel that really requires concern.

Looks like a solid 4 bid league right now

Ill take that.

Judging by what they did to the aac last year, let's just hope for 3 and be pleasantly surprised with 4. We had 5 teams in the top 25 for multiple weeks late in the season and only got 4 in. We have none in the top 25 now which is a concern to me.

I'm confident that team's in the AAC can beat ranked teams.

I say Tulsa, SMU, UC and I could easily see UCONN win the tournament as it is in Storrs. If Temple picks up some good wins down the stretch I could see them sneaking in since they have that signature win over Kansas.

RE: Top 6 AAC vs Bottom 5 AAC - Attackcoog - 01-31-2015 08:59 PM

Its going to be a while before Houston can improve---but we now have the coach and facilities in place to be a solid basketball program. Give Sampson a couple of years to recruit his guys. The current squad is just a place holder.

RE: Top 6 AAC is 29-1 vs Bottom 5 AAC - st932253 - 02-01-2015 12:53 PM

If you move Memphis to the other side of your grouping, the top teams only pick up one more loss...

RE: Top 6 AAC is 29-1 vs Bottom 5 AAC - KnightLight - 02-01-2015 12:59 PM

Also, some AAC teams' conf schedules were weighted/unbalanced either upfront or at the end of the season.

UCF has already finished their series/games with Temple, SMU and UCONN, yet haven't even played one game yet vs USF or ECU.

Memphis, who has already played home games vs Houston, UCF, ECU and Tulane...yet their last 4 conf home games are against:
Temple
UCONN
SMU
Tulsa

Plus, UM finishes the season with games at Cinci and at UCONN.

No clue if it helps some of the better AAC teams playing each other at the end of the season (means some very good teams will have late losses) or, if it would be better for them to play early in the season...as then all could end the season with probably strong winning streaks.
