UAB fans, what will happen next fall? - Eagle in the gym - 12-14-2014 03:20 PM

I can follow Southern Miss, but I still have grown wary of "BCS" games. Apparently from ratings, I am in the minority. But what will you do next fall?

RE: UAB fans, what will happen next fall? - Hopeful - 12-14-2014 03:46 PM

The most important thing to understand that it isn't UAB versus Alabama. It never was.

To actively rally against the fans, students, players, etc. of Alabama is as archaic as the NCAA's handling of punishment by hurting the people that don't actually have anything to do with the wrongdoing. I don't reserve any ill feelings towards the kids and good people at and in Alabama just because a couple of petty men in power.

That said, none of those options apply to me. Next fall, I want to see a foundation being made. I want to see the groundwork in place for the return of teams to their rightful place free of the tampering of people that want them to fail. Next fall, I want to see the new president making great strides towards harnessing the unity fostered by this disaster to bring us all to greater places in every regard.

So you're saying that next fall you aren't doing anything.

I won't watch any football and maybe no college sports at all.

I am going Bear hunting. I will devote all of my energies to the investigation, indictment and imprisonment of Paul W. Bryant Jr. and his cronies.

Now I voted for the first choice, because I have always pulled against the "BCS" teams, but this situation has forever cemented UAT in place as the worst of the worst for me.

However, you bring an interesting viewpoint. The students and faculty of UAT deserve to have just as competitive of a team as UAB. The problem is that they have certain benefits unobtainable to other universities that allow them to be competitive on a whole different level. I share your sentiment that all the "innocent" students and employees in Tuscaloosa are just trying to do their jobs and pull for their team, but even when Little Bear is gone, there will be someone, or some few, there enjoying all the power, money and prestige that comes with championship Tide teams, and I feel that they will make decisions from on top of their hill to keep others down. The only way I see their power waning is for the erosion of Tide fan support. Id honestly be fine if their field turned to quicksand, gobbled up Bryant-Denny Stadium and they never won a game again.

Continue to watch Conference USA & other non-Cabal conference football games, as well as some visits to a couple of FCS campuses to watch some games (Samford, Jax State). Nashville and Atlanta are back on my travel plans for sporting events, too. I'm so sick of Birmingham not being able to maintain its' own as a sports/football city because of the existence of some evil old bastards with money and political viagra!

We may be playing football. Stay tuned. I think at worse we take a year off but maybe not. A bunch of **** about to hit the fan.

Didn't really watch much CFB anyway, so it really won't change what I do on Saturday. I may check C-USA scores online or something, but that'll be it.

I'm gonna root all the way to the house against alabama. I hope uat falls flat on its face. I hope bryant jr makes more of a mockery of his family's name, and of uat.

UAB had bad attendance numbers but not program ending. The F_U schools are horrible. I'm starting to think a new conference of the best of CUSA and the Belt might join forces.

RE: UAB fans, what will happen next fall? - HerdZoned - 12-18-2014 10:20 PM

UAB didn't have the best attendance but they weren't EMU attendance or on the field bad. EMU and a few other schools should not have IA credentials.

The only other IA program I could actually see locking football away would be Hawaii. Every away game Hawaii players take a 5 hour flight just to get to LA. Add on the flight or bus time and it is anywhere from 7-13 hours just to get to their game. Hawaii is nice and all but I could see that as a real drawback for student athletes. No wonder they get many of their players from Hawaii.
