Uconn picked by Coaches to win AAC Women's BBall - Piratelife4me - 10-30-2014 10:57 AM

Shocking I know...

2014-15 Preseason Coaches Poll
(First-place votes in parenthesis)

Team Points
1. UConn (10) 100
2. USF (1) 91
3. East Carolina 72
T-4.Temple 67
T-4.Tulane 67
6. Memphis 54
7. SMU 52
8. Cincinnati 37
9. Tulsa 28
10. UCF 24
11. Houston 13

An AAC coach actually voted for USF. I wonder if that is serious, human error, or plain ignorance.

Pirates are looking good, hopefully it translates into results.

I think Geno has to vote for someone other then himself. I am guessing he threw a dart at a AAC picture.

USF won the NIT last year and are ranked 41st in the Preseason Coaches Poll. Geno picked the next best team after UCONN.

Ooooooo 3rd :)

USF women’s hoops has been really coming on as a program over the last 5 years but unfortunately/fortunately we are in the same conference with the best women’s college basketball program and coach of all time.

All around excitement in the CyberBull household with the basketball season just around the corner.

This is obviously UConn and the ten dwarfs.....with one dwarf a little taller than the others.

Four of ten all conference players come from UConn; with the 5th UConn player being voted as Freshmen of the Year. You can't get much more dominant in preseason picks than that.

Not to pile on but you really need to research the Women's team and not base it off the perception of our men's. The women's team won the NIT and didnt really lose anybody. They will be VERY strong this year and most pundits have predicted them as a tournament team this year. I actually think this is a very accurate picture of the women's side of things right now.

USFs two strongest sports right now are probably Women's Basketball and Men's soccer. After beating UCF and Memphis over the last weekend, I believe the Bulls are at the top in the AAC and could repeat as the AAC soccer Champs.

1. I am aware of USF women's record last year.
2. If Geno had to vote for someone else that explains it
3. Nowhere did I say USF women's team was not good/great/improving.
4. I do not care if USF was a sweet 16 team(NCAA), be hard to justify voting them over Uconn women as the #1 team.

WHO CARES?

RE: Uconn picked by Coaches to win AAC Women's BBall - HuskyU - 10-30-2014 01:09 PM

UCONN ticket prices more than double this year:

"According to Easy Seat, a partner of the UConn Huskies, the average price for Connecticut men’s home games this season is $177, compared to just $49 for 2013-14. That’s more than triple the price to see the defending champs on the hardwood."

"the most expensive game being against Memphis on March 5th at an average price of $390."

"The Connecticut women’s team is arguably the only women’s team in the country with an active secondary market. You can find women’s tickets on the secondary market for Duke, Tennessee, and some other programs to a select few games, but nothing compares to UConn who have women’s tickets available for resale to every home game over the course of the season. The average ticket price for UConn womens basketball tickets is $103 this season, more than double last year’s rate of $47."

OUCH... best part is that I think yall will still sell out. Thats gonna really help UConn and I honestly think yall are strong enough to make another really deep run.

RE: Uconn picked by Coaches to win AAC Women's BBall - mike012779 - 10-30-2014 02:33 PM

Ehhh Uconn should be 40-0 again losing a game is considered a disaster for them.

Just for comparison.......

For $390, I can buy a season ticket to Memphis basketball and have some $ left for concessions, albeit the seats are nose bleed; but I'm in the building.

USF has done a good job in building a good program in Womens basketball but UConns is at another level

ECU. Is doing very good too, but faded at the end of last year. Hand some locker room issues, gone now. Picked up some big transfers and solid signees. But, yes UConn is a whole other level.

I'm sorry, but I am not buying these numbers, especially given that much of our home schedule isn't particularly exciting. I guess we'll see when the season roles around.

RE: Uconn picked by Coaches to win AAC Women's BBall - USFRamenu - 10-30-2014 05:39 PM

The problem UConn has is that there only true rivals have been Stanford and Baylor. I'm glad the Lady Bulls are on the rise, perhaps they and a couple others can give the UConn ladies some competition. Can you say #1 Ladies BB Conference. Hey at least we'd be #1 in something. 04-cheers
