AAC bowl tie ins - Bathtub Gin - 10-30-2014 08:00 AM

Anyone know which bowl games the aac has a tie in to?

RE: AAC bowl tie ins - Gray Avenger - 10-30-2014 08:08 AM

AAC bowls for 2014:

Peach Bowl, Atlanta, Ga???
BBVA Compass Bowl, Birmingham, Ala. – vs. SEC
Bitcoin Bowl St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg, Fla. – vs. ACC
Miami Beach Bowl, Miami, Fla. – vs. BYU
Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman, Annapolis, Md. – vs. ACC
Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, Fort Worth, Texas – vs. Army/Big 12

Personally, I am prepared to attend any one of them regardless of opponent. I have spent far too many of my Tiger fan seasons staying home during bowl season - I will certainly not waste any opportunities in my remaining years. This is not to mention the importance to my alma mater of helping establish a good bowl travel reputation. Those who long for P5 conference membership need to keep that in mind.

GA, do you know the breakdown of who goes to which of those bowls? Such as AAC champ, second place, third place, etc?

Selfishly I would like to see them in Fort Worth, but not if it meant we finished 4th in the conference.

Geez, your prize for winning AAC is to go to dilapidated Legion Field for a bowl game?

And I though the Liberty Bowl had dropped CUSA champ for Big XII team TBD....?

Your prize is an access bowl if you earn it...you get what you earn.

Liberty Bowl is SEC vs. Big 12

According to Wikipedia the AAC is tied in to the Russell Athletic Bowl and The Belk Bowl against ACC teams. Don't know why they are not listed under AAC bowls.

Against the 8th best bowl-eligible team in the SEC, no less.

the AAC doesn't have a "pecking order"

it's all based on ticket sales potential and what ESPN wants...
