Longtime Blazer booster announces start of UAB Football Foundation... - Marathon Blazer - 10-28-2014 08:40 PM

We've needed something like this for a long time. Primary first objective will be to raise money for an indoor practice facility.

Will be asking AD Mackin and Blazer Boosters more about this, it's great news and I want in on it. Go Blazers!

I learned from this article that UTEP is in San Antonio! Dang it, I guess I booked my flight to the wrong city this weekend!

Hopefully this eventually turns into an on campus stadium.

Ha! You are not the only one confused. At the end of the telecast one announcer said that UTEP beat the Miners of UTSA. That's tough to do.

Congrats to UAB. This is justly deserved.

Congrats! However, even if the money is raised, does permission have to be granted from the evil ones to build football facilities?

Damn good question. The "evil ones", as you call them (very accurate assessment), are very aware of UAB Football's need for upgrade of facilities, they may not be as obstructive on them as they will in regards to an on campus stadium..

If it is privately funded, what leg do they have to stand on?

Not sure about the U of Alabama System, but you can't build anything on a UNC System campus without the Board of Governors approval, no matter if privately funded or not.
