Benson Hands Out Reprimands - WinstonTheWolf - 10-27-2014 05:38 PM

Whatever that means . . .

NEW ORLEANS - The Sun Belt Conference today announced its findings from a thorough review of the October 21 football game between UL Lafayette and Arkansas State. Both football teams, along with five student-athletes, one assistant coach and one member of the football team support personnel, have been reprimanded for unsportsmanlike conduct. Additionally, the officiating crew from the game will be suspended for an upcoming game.

Each guy must caddy a round of golf for Karl and the universities must cover the green fee

Here is my take, UL athlete Corey Trim should serve a one game suspension for punching a player period! In fact, all athletes reprimanded from this game should serve the one game suspension. The exception is Jackson, should be suspended for the rest of the regular season.

All Coaches reprimanded should not be allowed on the sideline for the next game period!

RE: Benson Hands Out Reprimands - Tiguar - 10-27-2014 06:07 PM

so the entirety of both football teams got reprimanded? ok

The ejected players were both from Arkansas State – Andrew Tryon, for committing two personal fouls that per NCAA rules resulted in an automatic disqualification; and Xavier Woodson, for spitting on an opposing player. Both of those players are being reprimanded along with their teammates Frankie Jackson and Tres Houston. Jackson committed a flagrant act that went unnoticed by game officials and could have led to a serious injury to a UL Lafayette player during an extra point attempt. Houston's reprimand comes as a result of multiple acts of unsportsmanlike conduct that also went undetected by game officials.

For UL Lafayette, Corey Trim is being reprimanded for multiple acts of unsportsmanlike conduct – which included a play that was missed by the officials in which he threw a punch at an Arkansas State player. Additionally, UL Lafayette assistant coach Mitch Rodrigue and strength coach Rusty Whitt have been reprimanded for unsportsmanlike conduct and inappropriate bench decorum.

Southern-State has nothing on this rivalry.

You need to relax. Nothing in the game was even suspension worthy and certainly not worthy of missing half a season.

Sure, but its an opportunity for both programs to send a message to their athletes and staff that this behavior is unacceptable. Yea, Jacksons actions are not worthy of suspension. You can keep selling that one in Jonesboro, no one else is buying right now.

RE: Benson Hands Out Reprimands - Crump1 - 10-27-2014 06:28 PM

There were no suspensions because nothing happened that warranted it. No way a rational person can prove that Jackson did anything intentional or malicious. Benson heard the whining from both sides so he split the baby and gave it lip service which is more than enough.

I think Tryon and Woodson are both suspended automatically via NCAA rules because they were ejected.

Why send a message, King Karl has already decided to send a message. If throwing a punch is no longer suspension worthy, neither is diving at a players knees.

What Karl essentially said is that 5 players and two coaches committed acts that had a competent officiating crew called the game, would have resulted in ejections and automatic suspensions. But because the officials were stupid and missed half of it, they all get off with warnings.

What an amazing system of justice this league has!
