Access bowl toll - ncbeta - 10-23-2014 11:53 PM

Someone on an ECU board made the comment that worrying about the access bowl was taking away from his enjoyment of the game. I've got to say that I agree.

CSU, ECU and Marshall could win out and these people could give it to anyone. We could lose, they could lose, anything can happen--so why get so worked up over it?Worrying about style points and impressing the committee has gotten old, really, really fast (especially when we're not getting the style points).

We just won our first game against UConn. Ever. Same with USF last week. Now that I really think about it, that's awesome. Great time to be a Pirate.

I just want to win games and enjoy the damn ride. Anyone else annoyed with it? Annoyed with the whole CUSA-MWC-AAC three way triangle of bull?

Agreed. The rhetoric is getting tireless. However most of the feuding has been started and instigated by Marshall fans. Go on twitter and search "Marshall ECU." Go on the CUSA message board...that's all they talk about...we're forced to defend our team way too much. Like who cares?

Both teams should enjoy their seasons and spotlight. It won't be there next year for both.

Marsha fans felt slighted and whined because they thought they were better than wvu and wvu wouldnt play them.

Marsha fans felt slighted and whined because they were d1-aa but felt they were better than many d1 schools and werent getting enough respect

Marsha fans felt slighted because they were in the MAC and no one respected the MAC and they thought they should get better bowls and higher rankings

Marsha fans feel slighted because they are running the score up on a weak schedule and no one respects them.

Anyone notice a theme here.

When it comes to access bowls, the commitee, and the rest of the BS that college football has become due to espn, market shares and the creation of a college level nfl structure. You have a choice get sucked in to the whole mess or just enjoy rooting for your school the way people have for 100 years. ECU has been playing good football for a long long time.

If Marsha does get in for whatever reason I hope they beat the brakes off of whatever tv contract money league school they play, despite their whiney fan base.

Oh and thank you UCF for underlining what a sham the whole system has become even though the window was only available for one year.

RE: Access bowl toll - ncbeta - 10-24-2014 12:29 AM

Btw we pulled ahead in the SMU series too 03-wink (not implying we pulled ahead in the USF- lots of work to do still).

If you feel like your bid or lack of bid to the access bowl is all that matters at the end of the season, then that's no fun. Trash talking your conference mates that are stuck with you is where the fun is at. A playoff should include 10 teams. 10 conference champs....damn $$.

RE: Access bowl toll - BullsFanInTX - 10-24-2014 09:25 AM

I agree. Quit worrying about whether you beat a team by 10 or 30 and enjoy your good team. Let the chips fall where they fall at the end of the year.

RE: Access bowl toll - Chappy - 10-24-2014 09:40 AM

Amen.

This is our last year with Carden/Hardy and we're 6-1. Let's enjoy the ride!

RE: Access bowl toll - HuskyU - 10-24-2014 09:57 AM

Yup...It was a lose-lose situation rooting for UCONN last night. Either my team was going to lose or the conference we call home was going to get eliminated from Access Bowl contention.

Bummer.

RE: Access bowl toll - Cscollis - 10-24-2014 10:08 AM

ECUs Hardy is a great reciever. He catches everything and runs great routes. Not blazing speed but fast enough. Is he on the watch list for the WR awards that's starts with a B. Best reciever I have seen this year.

Yeah he's on the watch list. He's got the best hands I've ever seen on a receiver at ECU.

Is the irony of the other Marshall thread and the continuous Marshall discussion here not obvious?

Yes, it's Marshall fans whining because we won two national championships in d1-aa prompting the invite, we whined because in six years in the MAC we won the championship five times, and we cry because we are ranked for dominating our weak schedule while Memphis isn't even an after thought in any national football ranking. Anyone seeing some homerism delusion here?

Why are you dragging Memphis into the fight? We are innocent bystanders.05-nono

Memphis would beat the snot out of Marshall. I just wish we were playing.

Right there with you, beta! ENOUGH of the noise, as Coach Ruff says! I am enjoying seeing ECU be able to "pull out wins" that would've probably gone down as LOSSES, not too long ago! 04-rock

And UCONN Fan(s), I didn't get to meet too many of y'all Thursday night, but those I did would be welcome at my tailgate any day! REALLY enjoyed the game & meeting several of your fans! 04-cheers

Winner of the "Merican this year should go to the Access bowl. Period.

Check out the bold. It goes both ways. I wouldn't have a problem with the Access Bowl rhetoric if it wasn't presented in a demeaning type of way.

RE: Access bowl toll - baruna falls - 10-27-2014 11:45 AM

Marshall fans feel left out of not getting an invite to the AAC. I can't blame them, because if ECU had been left out and Marshall had been invited, I would be upset and angry as well. Their jealousy however, has turned into hostility towards ECU and it fan base. Who knows, maybe I would be hostile as well. I hope I wouldn't but you never know.

No untruer statement as ever been made.

Not true...someone once said "UAB has a good football program"

You think Marshall fans are not upset about not getting invited to a conference with national exposure and good basketball? Every time someone counters this by saying it is untrue I just smile. Because to say untrue, means that a fan likes their team playing in conference with a bad tv and basketball deal and no national exposure or good basketball.

RE: Access bowl toll - ncbeta - 10-27-2014 03:00 PM

This Marshall stuff is getting old. Just let it play out...
