Herd to hire PR Firm to make case for college football

Article

C-USA hired the firm, not Marshall.

Good. They've still got work to do, and it won't get them in Top 4 anyway, but I'm glad to see C-USA be proactive in support of the Herd.

Good to see Banowsky not alligator-arming this.

Better to make noise than to sit by quietly.Correct strategy imho.

This is great news.

It won't help . Marshall needs ECU , Colorado State and UCF all to fall apart. SOS is the killer .

Memphis fan,

Re-read the link. The PR firm is to advocate Marshall in the 4-team College Football Playoff, not the Peach Bowl. In that arena, it matters not what ECU, UCF, or CSU do.

You are wrong on either account. Marshall may very well be leading the way in the first poll next tuesday. In either case, certainly leading everyone but ecu. CSU is out of the picture u less boise loses again, UCF isnt in the picture at all. ECU needs to either win close vs crap teams like uconn and usf (already did) or lose 1 game.

Hopefully we're not paying them much, but good to see that a tangible move is being made, however fruitless.

The wins over Tech and UNCheat are not quality wins now. Both those teams have been exposed as BAD. This may be the worst Tech team since Beamers early years. Struggling against a very bad UConn team at home will likely cause the Pirates to drop a spot or two in the polls. Argh!

C-USA is every bit as strong a conference this year as the AAC.

Current week 8 massey composite (lower ranking better):

MWC - 76.67
C-USA - 83.62
AAC - 83.80

So in other words, schedule P5's or you're.....05-ban

C-USA hiring the PR firm to aid in Marshall's quest of being one of the playoff teams, should they go undefeated, was a topic of conversation this morning on "The Dan Patrick Show". The host believes its an all-for-naught attempt. Their opinions are that Marshall's SOS is just way too weak, and state a "lack of heritage" for the football program will keep them on the outside looking in. A two-loss team from the SEC would get into the playoff before an undefeated Marshall.

We know we won't get into the playoff.

Oh...well...I guess it's nice to know the conference hasn't given up hope.

RE: Herd to hire PR firm - Cnelson203 - 10-24-2014 11:10 AM

I have no illusions on a playoff bid...and I'll say that about any G5 schools. It would take a run of a couple of years of 1 loss seasons or better, plus strong OOC wins to even be in the conversation for any of us. But I am pleased that the Conference office is supporting us. It won't happen, but I like the proactivity.

As for Marshall, we just need to beat FAU...only thing that should be on our radar at the moment.

RE: Herd to hire PR firm - SVHerd - 10-24-2014 11:19 AM

No thoughts of a playoff bid but the PR will be good for hoping to sway the committee pertaining to the Access bowl bid. jmo.

Still lots of football to be played by all teams. We gotta get by a talented FAU team first.

This is an even better result. At least we know BB"s still out there paying attention to what the conference does need

In otherwords, the college football world wants to make sure nobody upsets their precious little apple cart.

I don't think its ECU that we have to worry about. Colorado State has the best chance IMHO, of making the access bowl as a G5 team. They pose no threat to the establishment, like CUSA and AAC teams do, they play a relativly easy schedule with only SJSU and Air Force as the toughest competition. They could sneak past Marshall with the win against BC and only loss against BSU.
